Where do we go from here?

No, I wouldn't call that development. He broke out halfway through his freshman year and has been our MVP ever since. He's played at a very high level his whole career.

I wouldn't suggest Dixon "developed" Blair either.

Honestly, most "development" is on the player.

I attended a Pitt basketball camp and played at FFH. Do I get bonus points for being in the coaches office when Dominic Dumancic walked in and sat next to Omo Moses and Gandhi Jordan in the blue seats during a break in the camp?

I can even say that I played college basketball at Fitzgerald Field House!!

I played my college ball at Trees, Bellefield, and some rec center at Penn State when I was there for a weekend visiting friends. Probably the best I ever played. Pretty good comp but we had a guy who said he played for Marathon Oil or one of those exhibition teams who was one of the best players I ever played with or against. We won like 10 games in a row.

I aslo played a 2 on 2 game inside the Field House my senior year.

When I was in school, there was a local guy who played mid-major D1 who used to run Trees every night.

Always thought gyms that weren't located on the ground floor were cool. Same with PAA although didnt play there until after I graduated.

I remember my first day of college, got done with classes at like 2 or 3, went up to Trees Hall and there were games going on. I thought how crazy is that at that time of day. I then thought, man, how am I NOT going to flunk out if there's games here 24/7

My claims to fame in this area aren't very "famous" ...

During my freshman year, at Trees I played in a game when George Allen played for about half the game. George was still enrolled at Pitt even though he wasn't eligible.

Before my Soph year, when Jerome Lane was a frosh, I had "next" for a game when Jerome Lane was playing. He too only played about half the game but made a play I'll never forget. He drove the baseline, and rose to the hoop and we all thought he was going to slam, but instead he went under the hoop and we thought we'd see a cool reverse layup. But he kept on going and turned it into an up and under slam. The sound it made as it echoed in the gym was awesome.

As a Junior and Senior, I also played in couple of games where Scotty Columbo played.

Once during my freshman year, we went up to Trees and FFH and either both were closed or far too crowded. We ended up playing 3 on 3 in the Pitt Pavillion inside Pitt Stadium. The court was fine but it was cold in there!!

My friend Joe, who played d2 and his brother who played at kstate- play in a competitive league in Kansas City with frequent ex college players making appearances .
Joe told me Kyle mcalarney from notre dame played for a while and it was just stupid - he’d pull up way beyond the 3 point arc and regularly drain shots - until they’d have to start defending him at half court and he’s make them look stupid driving past them .

How much talent even very good college players , not even stars have - is silly

No doubt. The best I could ever accomplish at Trees Hall was not to embarrass myself.

I played with and against current (at the time) and former Pitt players at Trees and even the worst of them, guys who barely ever contributed were insanely good, even some walk-ons.

Most guys on ANY college team would kick recreational players asses up and down the court. All day long.

I was messin around at the gym at CCAC years ago. I could hold my own with most at the local parks. But there was a dude there that day you could tell right away was just different. Never knew who he was or if he played anywhere but he just toyed with people and didn’t even have to try. The only way anyone could have possibly stopped him was to just punch him in his apple bag.

Love it that was my prime too. Still have the Foodland football and basketball cards. I went to the Paul Evan's camp too.

We would play a little at Bellefield when I was in law school. The place was boiling, the floor hadn’t been resurfaced in forever, and it felt like a skating rink under the baskets. Fun times.

A buddy and I had next up at Trees one Saturday when Ironhead Heyward walked in. He came over and asked if I had next and I said yeah, so he asked if we needed a guy and if he could play with us.

Needless to say, we didn't lost a game all afternoon.
