Let's not get too carried away here. There were about 5 future NFL first rounders on the other side of the ball today. Will Fuller was the best player on the field for either team by a country mile.
Hopefully the recruits that have been following Pitt have noticed that top-rated freshmen can make an impact. They got to see that firsthand with Whitehead today.
Recruiting can make us a national championship contender no doubt
Was talking with some fans today. Boyd is phenomenal, but has not been all that great this year and his hands are not "great". Not knocking on him, but he was looked at as the undisputed best WR in the country coming into the season. We've played a receiver most weeks this season that has looked much, much better than Boyd.
Aliquippa, Hopewell, and Central Valley Coaches all said he can play some Offense too!
I understand why Coach Narduzzi waited to use Whitehead until he learned the speed and toughness of bigger faster players until he worked on adjusting and building the condition of his body and mental learning as True Freshmen for Defense and that needs game experience.
I also understand why he waited until the Notre Dame game knowing it could take pressure off of Boyd and it did.
However, he should have done it in the UNC Game in my opinion. This would have made ND prepare for it but there is a point surprising ND too.
It is refreshing when a New Young Dynamic Head Coach is not afraid to use all his Talents and take risks in changing his tactics every game. Pitt has a Great Coach Coach Pat Narduzzi!
Harris, Wannstedt, Graham, and Chryst would have kept him Defense like but Narduzzi used him on both Offense and Defense without fear and show innovation and being bold is not wrong!
Revis should have been p[laying some Offense too! Recall Chryst consider using Conner once on Defense but stuck mainly on Offense.

Boyd's hands weren't great today but his ability to make tough catches is definitely one of his signature skills. He's made some remarkable catches in his career. Is he better than guys like Josh Doctson or Will Fuller? Hard to say but I can imagine an argument either way. Fuller dropped at least one critical pass in the Clemson game.
