When was Hendrix supposed to be ready? Not sure on Whitehead and Hamlin.

We're not going to blow the medical redshirt of a guy like Hendricks or Zeise to play in this meaningless game against a .500 Northwestern team
Maybe Whitehead. It'll be 6 weeks since injury. If he plays I'm sure he'll need some protective device. Not out of the question

Hendrix? Why? Could he not just take a medical redshirt if he doesn't play? I wouldn't see any point in playing him if that's the case.
Redshirts were used. To obtain a medical waiver when you already used up your redshirt, you need to miss the better parts of 2 seasons.
If zeise and Hendrix hadn't used their redshirts already, your point would be valid. Since they did, that waiver won't happen.
Hendricks transferred. He was never redshirted. And Zeise is still eligible for a medical rs.
Everyone is eligible for medical waiver. Hendrix and zeise both used their Redshirts already. Hendrix transfer counted towards his RS. NCAA is cutting back big time with granting medical waivers to players who have already used their RS. It's possible but you have to basically lose two full seasons due to injury to get it. Zeise and Hendrix won't get this.
If every redshirt player in college football who got hurt early in season got this medical waiver, 1/2 the NCAA would have 6 year players.
Hendricks was never redshirted! He was required to sit out a year because of the transfer. And your interpretation of the rule is wrong. Almost 100 percent of players who get injured in the first two games do get a rs.
Zeise and Hendrix redshirts were used, according to the scholarship board. IF either had not used their redshirt yet then yes, both would have a decent shot at getting a waiver. NCAA has cracked down big time on granting a 6th year.

If a redshirt year is available then a transfer will use that redshirt year during the season he has to sit out. If he used a redshirt prior to transferring then he must sit still sit out and lose a year of eligibilty. Its 5 years to play 4 any way you slice it.
@Delpanther i honestly am not 100% about this crap, I am going by stuff I read on the board. I would love if one or both of these guys got that extra year. I just remembered it being extremely tough if they've already used their typical red shirt
cause it's the NCAA and they purposely write these rules in loose lingo to be interpreted multiple ways so it's always handled on a case by case basis..
