A new article on BuzzFeed details the difficulties that Fox is having with marketing Birth of a Nation, reportedly a great film, due to allegations of rape by its director and star, Nate Parker while a sophomore on PSU's wrestling team. Fox apparently never looked into the allegations prior to making a financial commitment. PSU as always looked the other way and denied, denied, denied.
Among the points that author Anne Petersen makes:
3.) That Parker’s alleged abuse took place on a college campus — the current flashpoint when it comes to malfeasance and mishandling of sexual abuse and sexual abuse victims — and that the university’s claims that they properly handled the casewould be called into question.
4.) That at Penn State, Parker was a member of the wrestling team, and the suit against Penn State for mishandling the Parker case took place just as the university was beginning to investigate football coach Jerry Sandusky, who was later found to have molested eight boys over the course of his tenure at the school.
