Pitt shot poorly and had 21 turnovers, but had this game down to 3 points late in the game. Pitt only shot 25% from the floor and 3 for 17 from 3. If Aysia Bugg has a good night, Pitt wins this game.
There was some hopeful news. Pitt out rebounded ND 53-46. But you can see this team growing - though obviously the number of poor decisions with the ball is still way too high.
Freshman Rita Igbokwe is quite a presence in the paint. The ND post players did nothing when Rita was in the game. She had 4 blocks but also showed a couple nice moves at the offensive end. She could be a big-time player in another year or two.
You can see freshman PG Harris starting to play smarter, but she still gets out of control some as she tries to play really fast.
It was telling that late in the game, down 5, Pitt had 4 freshmen and a Juco transfer on the floor.
Pitt may not win another game this season, but there are reasons to be excited for the future, IMHO. BTW, ND won by 56 last year (though they are re-building with youth this year too...).
