Women Lose to Duquesne

I didn't see any of it. Two fairly even teams? What I
take out of this loss is what I posted last year......
we have A-10 talent. Unfortunately we're playing in
the ACC. The freshman pg had 1 T0 and 8 pts..
Marley is hurting us, 4 TOs and 3 pts. IMO she's
better than that. We did rebound according to
the stat sheet. Anybody watch it?

Didn’t see it either. This team is tenacious but doesn’t shoot very well, especially threes.

I’m surprised Hutcherson hasn’t been starting, or getting more minutes, to help score some points. Long season ahead - hoping Battle develops…

I agree, "long season ahead." We have very
little talent. However what I've see so far,
they show fight, and seem to have a clue
basketball wise. Credit to coach Verdi.

I like Hutcherson, but she really hasn't done
much in college, neither here or Ohio ST. As
I watch her I see a 6'2" forward who is frail
and is better on the wing. She gets overpowered
on the inside. Now with that said, she proved me
wrong against Duquesne 7 pts and 6 rebounds.

Battle appeared to be a somewhat solid recruit
after Verdi came here late in the recruiting
process. She apparently is getting minutes ahead
of fellow frosh pg Timmerson.

Anybody watch it?

I was at the volleyball game, so I didn't see it. But I was keeping up with it on the gametracker. Pitt was ahead midway through the 3rd and just stopped scoring. And I mean that almost literally. With around two minutes left to go in the game the tracker noted that Pitt was 1-20 on their last 20 shot attempts, and that their last field goal was with around 4-1/2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. So they went something like 12+ minutes without scoring a basket.

Having said that, they showed some highlights on channel 2 last night. Pitt was down two and had the ball with an out of bounds play from the baseline. They threw the ball into King, she gets bumped but still gets the shot off, the shot goes in, and...

The ref called her for traveling. She should have been going to the line with a chance to give Pitt the lead with three seconds left, and instead it was a turnover and Duquesne ball. Pitt fouled, Duquesne made both foul shots, and then Pitt hit a three at the buzzer for the final margin of victory.

But two things. First of all, I replayed it over a couple times. There is no way that she even traveled. And she absolutely was fouled. A double bad call that cost Pitt the chance to win.

I assume you saw one hell of a VB match at the Pete. Coming
back from 2 sets down shows a lot of internal fortitude....or better
yet some plain ole GUTS.
