Womens Bball transfers

Finally, a much needed BIG arrives at Pitt. Do we have a Vader on here
who can give us some more background. I googled her and found out
that she originally transferred to Okl. St in June. What happend since
then?? Now Verdi gets her to transfer to Pitt? How does that happen?

Her stats look good.....8.8pts and 6.2 rebounds over three years at Kansas.
Those #'rs in that league tell me she can play at an ACC level. They listed
her at 6'4" and other sites had her at 6'3." Either way, that height is needed
here. She apparently is a strong, physical rebounder. We played forwards
inside last year and we saw the results in ACC play. I haven't seen a Big here
who could actually play, since the recently departed volley ball player, Monica.
Rita was 6'4." I lked her, but she was never really a force and she transferred.

Ioanna did miss a good part of last season with a foot injury. Hopefully that is
in the past. I mentioned previously on here that IMO, Verdi is doing well
getting what he can get, given very difficult circumstances. My count says
we have eleven players. Is that right? Obviously we need a few more.

I liked that initially she went to Kansas over offers from UTenn and UNC. She’s originally from Athens, Greece.

Also she shoots free throws in the upper 70 percents - a good sign.

Nice job by Coach Verdi unless the foot injury limits what she can do.

Go Pitt.

I guess it’s time to “reach.” Raeven Boswell is a 5’11” guard. Sounds like a good athlete (uh oh, we’ve been there, done that…). As a freshmen at GT, she played a total of 27 minutes, attempted 6 shots and made 2.

Good luck, Coach.

Go Pitt.

They’ve got 15 scholarships. Use em or lose em.
That makes sense, but are there any possible transfers
even available at this late date? At least they now have
12 on scholarship, six guards and six forwards. The
backcourt is very young and inexperienced. I have no
idea how these transfers and recruited frosh can
actually play at this level. However, Coach Verdi
IMO gets a lot of slack given the program he inherited,
and the newbies he had to find on very short notice.
Hope he can make something out of this mix.

To be honest, if they seem like good kids who won’t wreck the locker room, I think you take whoever’s out there. If they prove that they just aren’t good enough, you can cross that bridge six months from now in terms of whether they have a place on the 2024-25 roster.

Of the twelve now on the team, only one (Jordon) has
one year of eligibility. So, eleven theoretically can
come back. If all eleven want to return, what does
Verdi do? It would be hard IMO to ask any of them
to leave, especially after they stuck by him in this
transition year. Any newbies he gets now, are not
going to be talented. It would be best if he could
find a player with a good attitude with only this
year of eligibility. He's going to need at least five
newbies as it stands now for 24-25. I'm sure he's
going to take a few h,s, recruits and maybe a
transfer or two. I'm certain he knows this, and
is probably considering if he should take any
more current players.

I understand where you're coming from with taking
what he can get now. He can run the program with
the current twelve. Let's see what he does, How he
mixes and matches this crew will be interesting for
sure.
