This is pretty much the last chance to make a statement before ACC play begins. The series has become almost as non competitive as the men's series, but in the wrong direction, as the Dukes will be looking for their 9th win in the last 10 games, and other than a 4 game winning streak when Agnus had the program rolling, Duquesne has basically dominated the last 25 years. Duquesne has mostly been a bubble level program for the last decade, so they're a good litmus test for the Pitt program. If we can't beat them on a somewhat regular basis, we're not going to be competitive in the ACC.

Well then girls....BEAT their ass !!!!....HTP/Forever!!!!

Jasmine Whitney played an outstanding game today for Pitt, who also got excellent efforts from Cassidy Walsh and Cara Judkins.

Whitney was 3 for 4 from 3 and 8 for 8 at the line for a career high of 23 points. Walsh was 3 for 5 from 3 for 14 points — 2 of the 3s were in the 4th Q and were big time clutch.

Judkins quietly had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Another key for Pitt was the play of K. Bradley, whose stat line doesn’t reflex the impact she had with her hustle and defense.

You never know what you will get from Whitney, but more performances like today would help Pitt win a couple ACC games.

BTW, Duquesne usually kills us with their 3-point shooting. Today they were only 5 for 27. So they had an off day, but give credit to an aggressive Pitt zone defense.

Looking at that defense today, and the progress Judkins has made, I have the impression the future will be bright for Pitt, not this season, but not that far off.

BTW, Bugg and Gribble were not suited up but were there and on the bench with no issues that were apparent...

Go Pitt.

I was watching on television before I left for the men's game. The announcers said that it doesn't look like Bugg is going to be able to come back any time soon. I don't know if that was an informed comment, or just idle speculation on their part. They did not mention Gribble, at least while I was watching. But she was out rebounding shots and passing the ball out to teammates in the warmups before the St. Francis game. I was hoping she'd be able to go today, but no. Let's hope she's back soon, because this team could really use a shooter.

Joe - Gribble did the same thing today - out on the floor before the game. I didn’t notice Bugg out there then, but did spot her on the floor during intros and on the bench for the game. She was smiling and encouraging her teammates...

Also, it was great to see Cassidy Walsh hit the big shots. She was beaming today. Fun to see a Pitt athlete be so joyful.

Go Pitt.

Bugg did the same at the St. Francis game. During warmups her and Pika Rodriguez stayed out of things and just watched, while Gribble was helping out. All three sat on the bench cheering on their teammates during the game. They actually have had Rodriguez charting something on a clipboard in the games that I've been at, which leads me to think that they know she isn't playing at all this season and they've known it since day one.

Had to be a great feeling for Walsh, considering the opponent. For those who don't know, Walsh was supposed to play for Suzie at Duquesne, while Omogrosso was coming to Pitt to play for Agnus. When Agnus was fired, and Suzie came to Pitt, the two girls switched schools. Walsh was slightly more highly regarded coming out of high school, but Omogrosso has had the better college career, as Walsh has struggled, so yesterday has to have felt great for Cassidy.

Yeah - interesting dynamic between Walsh and Omogrosso after they switched schools. The latter has seemed to struggle this season, but just as I suspected would happen yesterday, playing Pitt brings out the best in her.

As for Walsh, she can be deadly from 3, and she can drive to the hoop pretty well, but she struggles to finish. She usually tries a scoop shot and she missed maybe 4 of those yesterday. Seems to me she needs to go up stronger and at least have a better chance to get fouled....

But it is nice to see her get the chance to play a lot in her senior year.

Go Pitt.

I really like Walsh. She clearly is not the most talented (still, she's pretty darn good).
She gives 110 % all the time. She also seems to be a real team player, and my
guess is she's a leader on this team.
