On Friday I was going to make a bet on the UVA game that Pitt would be beaten by more points than Pitt scored (I correctly backed out of it deciding UVA doesn't score enough--but the bet looked good at the half).
That defense puts much less pressure on the ball than I remembered, in fact they almost never jumped a passing lane and were quite content to allow Pitt to make any (many) passes it wanted 25 feet from the basket. The UVA defense is certainly aided by the opponent's indecision. Look at the difference between Senior Millie and Freshman Carr in how they attacked it, Carr only played 14 ineffective minutes.
On offense UVA took quite a few floaters down the lane, not a high percentage two point shot. That must be taught to avoid charges, since once they beat their man off the dribble I'd expect them to take it to the rim but they pull up from 6-8 feet instead. Solid, deliberate, low turnover, 15 assists like Pitt used to be.
