As Pitt fans and a pirates fan we can come up with a litany of those, but I’m talking other teams such as national teams.
For me, the one that always makes me kind of sad it didn’t happen is Tom Watson at the 2009 open. I am too young to have watched Nicklaus, Watson, etc and only saw them as they played the masters as they aged.
That weekend was amazing. Dude was 59 and had won at the same course over jack 30 years before, and he’s schooling guys 35 years younger.
When he bogeyed 18 I was so dissapointed. It truly would have been one of the most amazing sports stories ever.
