Anybody smell 7-6

Even when they hit 7-0, I had my concerns this could be somewhat like 2015. A few close wins to mediocre teams, 6-1 start and the 1 loss was on a long FG on the road to an Iowa team who was like this year’s Indiana, then stumbled to a 2-4 finish with a bowl loss in miserable weather to Navy.

2006 and 1991 were even worse too, I just barely remember 06 and wasn’t even born in 91.

UVA loss on PN and staff

This isn't anything unusual for a Narduzzi coached team. 6-6, 7-5, maybe an occasional 8-4 if we get lucky and play an exceptionally easy schedule.

The teams we're playing now have had a chance to see this offense and are now ready for it and will defense it. All the remaining 3 teams on our schedule will be ready for us. I don't expect us to win any of them, playing the odds. And our coaching doesn't seem capable of making adequate adjustments in game or otherwise.

Holstein

I call bullshit on this one . The kid is only 19 years old and has a lot of maturing and learning to do .
There was a reason Bama recruited him .
Whether he gets lured away due to F'n NIL is an entire different story ..

He has become a ton cheaper for Pitt to keep. If you are a big school, has he shown enough over this season to give him some big money contract?

Seam Routes

It is almost comical at this point how teams continue to beat this defense with slot receivers, running backs, or tight ends running straight line routes up the middle of the field.

It honestly feels like opposing offensive coordinators are just waiting for a critical moment in a game to call the play.

They put in a formation where they know that Pitt will blow the coverage. Probably from film study during the week instead of looking at an iPad on the sideline.

We have seen the same route run against us by Cinci, UNC, Cal, Syracuse, SMU and now Virginia. Every team on that list scored a TD on that pass except Syracuse.

Kudos to the other teams for exploiting a weakness, but at some point you need to look at yourself in the mirror and figure out why it is a weakness.

Our staff and players don’t seam to want to do that though. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

UVA loss on PN and staff

Shame it had to happen in front of what was by far the best crowd of the year.

Did we give out tickets to military families or something? There were way more people in the upper deck than usual and it seemed like they were all dressed in black.

Been saying this for years. Crowds are better at night because like 20% of Pitt fans have youth sports obligations that conflict with noon games.

Holstein

Holstein will go down in Pitt history as a great “what if?” type story. From second half of Cincinnati game to California game, about 14 quarters, of good football including a memorable win over WVU. He was the second coming of Marino remember? Concussions are going to limit his career and when he does play he’s going to be tentative. He won’t be QB here next year. Fun while it lasted.
