Planning a trip to Pittsburgh

Not too tough if you stay in Bloomfield. I like that neighborhood-decent food, cool vibe on liberty ave. You’re not really far and still in the city. It’s better to have a car in Pittsburgh generally as it’s a city where the neighborhoods shine more than the downtown.

For gameday (both days really) I’d park in the downtown area and walk over the bridge (either the 6th street and pass pnc park or walk through a little of point state park and walk over the ft Duquesne bridge for views of the point and Heinz field). It will be much cheaper than parking on the north shore. You can also catch a ride directly to the stadium on our light rail system for free.
Or take the bus and walk across the bridge
$2.75 each way .

I say it's stupid even if you are elite. If you are that good, they will find you, especially today.
But you can’t be “that good”, unless you’ve been a club player.

Let’s put this way-with very few exceptions, usually for extremely talented multi-sport all-around athletes, if your kid isn’t a club aka travel player in his/her sport, the reality is at any high school with good sports programs-basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, track, softball, hockey, wrestling, etc-the kid has virtually no chance to play or receive meaningful PT at the varsity level. It may not be right but that’s the way it is now.

Football is a unicorn because there is no club or travel version. But the amount of outside training and work that’s necessary to be a successful HS football player at a good sized program now is enormous.

OT - More Steelers

Umm...you talking about last night?
Take it for what its worth but here was Moon’s comments on the roughing the punter non-call:

After the game, though, Moon claims the officials told him that his play was clean.

"I had talked to (the officials) about it," Moon said after the game. "They said I didn't roll or anything. I went for the block. I just stopped, and (Haack) just fell over me. I mean, (the official) was standing right there. He would've made the right call if I would've roughed the punter. I didn't hear anything from the punter or anyone. I think it was clean."

Hahaha…you would absolutely love what the Butler varsity football program has been doing. A 6A school playing an independent schedule and still getting their teeth kicked in by A and AA schools. What a joke.

They dont take football seriously though. Its just not in the culture up there. They, at times, can field some really good teams in the other sports but the kids just dont play football up there. Its like a mini-New England but in Western PA. Odd. So I actually am ok with them playing 1A schools. They are doing it to get competitive games not to maximize wins.
