Pitt places Vason Stevenson on scholarship

Pitt entered the year with 12 scholarships, meaning they had an extra to spare, and the team gave it out to Vason Stevenson, a walk-on who is in his third year with the program. Stevenson, a local kid from McKees Rocks, will get to be on scholarship for the semester.

Pitt 2027 offer Jance Henry from Central Valley transferred to private school in Akron

Hear that Jance Henry from Central Valley transferred to Archbiship Hoban in Akron. He is a 2027 RB that has a Pitt offer. Not sure how this will affect his recruitment. We've offered a ton of kids from Hoban, but only got 1 that I know of, Todd Sibley.

Jance Henry looks like a Desmond Reid type to me. Hoban had a similar type player a couple of years ago in Lamar Sperling who ended up at Buffalo. Sperling would look great in Blue and Gold in Bell's offense if he decides to transfer after spring ball.

A chalk finish

Let’s say chalk holds in every remaining game (based on predictive metrics), Pitt will finish :

21-10 (12-8)
1-10 in Q1
6-0 quad 2
7-0 quad 3
7-0 quad 4

Is that enough? Probably depends on bid stealers again.

Our only 4 Q1 games remaining are on the road. (Wake, UNC, SMU, and Louisville).

Even if we steal one of those Q1 games on the road, we will end up a dreadful 2-9 in Q1.

Makes those two 1 possession (essentially) Q1 losses at home tough to swallow.

I’m not feeling good if chalk holds the rest of the way.

If I’m a betting man, I’m saying no tourney for this team.

And I’m usually an optimist.

The Morning Pitt: 1/28/2025 - A big one against UNC

Pitt has a big game tonight as the Panthers are set to host North Carolina at the Petersen Events Center, and on today's Morning Pitt, we're breaking down the game from all angles. What do the Panthers need to do to win? What questions can be answered tonight? And what's at stake for Pitt? All that and more on the Morning Pitt.

Recruiting Update Pitt lands another transfer OL

Multiple sources are telling me that Michigan grad transfer Jeff Persi is headed to Pitt.

Persi played in 41 games over the last four seasons, including 22 games on the offensive line, playing a mix of guard and tackle. Most recently, he played 168 snaps at left tackle this past season (including two starts).

He was a four-star prospect and a top-35 offensive lineman in the recruiting class of 2020.

Persi is an important add. Pitt has already added two transfers on the offensive line, but that wasn't enough; Persi could step in to help at one of the tackle positions or work at guard. We'll see what else we can dig up.

CFP Ratings down...

I think it just has blended too much in with the NFL playoffs and have become a bit of an afterthought. Think about it, 2 of the bluest blue bloods, the final 4 were all blue bloods with 4 of the top 6 fanbases overall. And still down.

The standard is the standard,’ it feels like a saying now

. It’s not something you actually see.”

Harrison also dismissed the usual national media narrative that Tomlin has actually been overachieving the last eight years with underwhelming talent.

“If I’m the head coach of a football team and I’ve been the head coach of this football team for (18 years), and now the team’s not doing well — that all has to fall on my shoulders. Because I’ve been here long enough to be able to draft who I want and put the guys in the positions that I need,” Harrison said. “For me to be like, ‘I haven’t been (able to) get this or get that.’ Well, I’m the guy who’s supposed to be getting that. And I’ve been here long enough to get it.”

Looks like Harrison disagrees with the MM apologists on the board
