Pitt has six road games this season, and some familiar road trips to go along with it. I've been to all six schools, though I've only been to 5 of the stadiums. Here is how I would rank Pitt's road trips
6. Syracuse - It's usually cold when Pitt plays up here, and I'm guessing this will be a November game, so that will hold up. The Dome itself isn't very nice, but it's a cool place to watch the game because you are inside and you feel pretty close to the action. Their fans are pretty reasonable and won't heckle you or anything. Dinosaur BBQ is worth a stop at least once. But the tailgating scene, at least the two times I've been there, was nonexistent. You are spending time in bars and not outside because it's so cold. There are a few spots not too far from the Dome.
5. West Virginia - I've never been to a football game in Morgantown, but I covered the basketball game last season and actually really liked the coliseum. I'm guessing it'll be a hyped up atmosphere with Pitt being in town. The tailgating scene is always said to be good, but it might be a little hostile for Pitt fans. I was kind of surprised with how much traffic Morgantown got for a basketball game, and I'm guessing it'll be worse for a football game. The stadium is sort of away from the town/main row of bars, but it's typical college town type places everywhere.
4. Duke - Really nice campus, Cameron Indoor and all their athletic fields are basically right next to the football stadium. Raleigh/Durham is a nice area generally, lots of breweries and BBQ spots everywhere. There were some cool spots down by the baseball stadium when I went there the last time. I've stayed closer to the airport/halfway between Raleigh and Durham and have found ubers to be around a good bit if you don't actually stay in Durham. The atmosphere is pretty dull at the stadium, and Duke might be a bit better next year than they were in 2021, so I'm thinking it'll be a bit better.
3. Wake Forest - You can pretty much copy and paste the Duke description here. Small campus, small stadium, relaxed atmosphere. BBQ places and bars downtown. There was a good strip of bars I found in 2018. Pretty easy to get to IMO as well.
2. Virginia Tech - Lane Stadium is cool. Blacksburg is a pretty standard college town, so you have people tailgating and also hitting the bars. Blacksburg is a fairly easy drive from Western Pa. Their fans were friendly for the most part and the atmosphere in the stadium is really good.
1. Notre Dame - I admittedly haven't been here since middle school, but it was a cool experience. If its your first time, it's worth hitting up campus the night before and walking around. It's just one of those iconic stadiums you need to see once. The Notre Dame lore can become a bit much for non-ND fans, I get that, but a Fall Saturday in South Bend is objectively pretty cool.
