Coverage on Signing Day: Updates, interviews, live streams and more

We've got a lot planned for Signing Day on Wednesday. Here's what to look for:

- We'll have the live Signing Day Tracker, which will be updated with every signing as they come in.

- We'll have breakdowns on every recruit as they sign.

- We've got interviews with a bunch of the guys in the class that we'll release throughout the day.

- We'll have not one, not two but three live streams throughout the day. The first will be at 8:45 am to recap everything that's happened so far. We'll go live again at 12:30 pm to update things again. And then we'll have our live Panther-Lair Show Wednesday night at 8:30 pm. Lots of chances to talk about Pitt sports, recruiting, Signing Day and everything else.

- I'll be at Steel Valley High School for Cruce Brookins' signing at 10 am, and I'll have updates/quotes/video from that.

- Pat Narduzzi will hold his Signing Day press conference in the South Side at 2 pm. I'll be there and post updates, news and notable items.

Lots of stuff to dig into. Should be a fun day.

The Morning Pitt: 12/21/2022 - Signing Day is here

It's finally here: National Letter of Intent Signing Day 2022, and we've got you covered for everything you need right here on the Panther-Lair.com YouTube channel. • Poll
Pitt Basketball Poll Tuesday 12/20/2022

Based on what you have seen so far, will Pitt make the NIT or NCAA Tournament?

  • Yes NCAA

    Votes: 13 14.9%
  • Yes NIT

    Votes: 61 70.1%
  • No postseason tournaments yet again

    Votes: 13 14.9%

Let me be clear, before the last 5 minutes of the game I was going to start really believing Pitt could get an invite to the NIT and maybe maybe a small outside shot at the NCAA Tournament. However the last 5 minutes kind of brought me back to reality a bit.

Here's the thing, they are 2-0 so far in conference and won both on the road. That's huge. On the other hand we all know Capel and his history of teams collapsing in the second half of seasons. Also imo it was very apparent to me the coaching just wasn't there late in this Syracuse game. It seemed like Pitt was definitely tired and completely out of sync. Was that due to poor coaching? I think that plays a part.

I still think though Pitt is a much better team this season than I originally thought. Maybe I am a little too optimistic but I think Pitt will now get into the NIT. It's a toss up for me but right now at least I am leaning that way. Making the Big Dance though I think will not happen.

What do you guys and gals think?

Brandon George available for the Sun Bowl

Pat Narduzzi said today that Brandon George will be available to play in the Sun Bowl after missing most of the season due to injury(ies).

"Brandon’s good. He could have played against Miami. But Brandon played three games, and the fourth game will be this bowl game, so we’ve kind of saved it for him. He’s feeling great and we’re excited to have Brandon George back, for sure.

"He’s a guy that we’ve been kind of waiting - he came back too early, got rolled up on. He could have been ready six weeks ago. We had him ready and then all of a sudden someone fell on him. But he’s back healthy and we’re fired up to have him."

Cuse - feeling fortunate for that W

Didn’t partake in any of the in-game thread, too caught up just watching.

Man, how quick things can go into the dumpster. Halfway thru the 2nd half I’m thinking this is the best display of Pitt BB I’ve seen in a long time. Biggest plus with this Pitt team is they’re the best collection of shooters we’ve had in a long time. And they sure were going in tonight. But it was so much more than just shots falling, the ball movement, patience and control were superb, defense was active and smart and rebounding was good.

Only negative that 1st half and 10 minutes was some annoying sloppy turnovers. Then the turnovers ramped up big time, not just the sloppy kind but more so because they just couldn’t handle the Cuse’ ramped up defense, clock management was terrible (Nellie launching two 3’s on successive possessions right after they got the ball across the half court line taking no time off the clock), Fede fouling out way too early. I almost blew a gasket when Diaz gave up the easy rebound and putback after the 2nd of 2 missed Cuse FTs down the stretch.

But hey, we luckily pulled out the W. Life is good.

Pitt's Biggest Basketball Rival

WVU may be Pitt;s biggest rival in basketball, but Pitt;s biggest basketball rivalry is the cuse.

Having watched these games for 50 years, there is more of a conference and true basketball rivalry with Syracuse, but gotta hate the damned hoopies in any sport.

I am so much better in mood cuz we held on, can't imagine how different my mood would be had we lost this game.

Transfer RB…

Bahyshul Tuten, kid has put up impressive stats, film looks good as well IMO. I know many want Davis, but give me an actual proven RB. Before anyone talks about his lower level of comp, don’t forget Wiltz turned into a real nice player for us. Georgia, Florida, etc have offered.

Davis has talent and would be worth a ship if he is willing to compete, but nothing will be handed to him because he was once a local star.

Maybe Salem already knew who this kid was with his NJ contacts. Any RB who is serious about getting the ball should look at Pitt after what Izzy did this past year.
