North Carolina Hurricane

I hope this really doesn't go sideways, it likely will. While we play UNC this week, the photos and footage of the devastation in Asheville and Western NC is just mind blowing. Obviously living in Greenville, SC for 5 years, I know the region/area well. Seeing Chimney Rock destroyed, Asheville and all of the communities underwater. All those roads washed away. I know we have some posters on here that live in or near there. Are you guys alright? Can you even log onto things? I mean the infrastructure was devasted for all walks of modern life. I am hearing the death toll could be in the hundreds and hundreds as in an event like this, unlike a hurricane, you don't really plan to evacuate and some of the water just came up so fast, there was nowhere to go.

Anyone following this or live in this region??

El Barto Explosion at UNC? #Mailbag

Is this the week El Barto gets unleashed? I love how successful the WRs have been and don't want to see that change, but when we need an extra gear are we going to see some of those schemes we heard about to get 86 the ball in space?

Honestly, have been hating to see him line up in the wideout position to block.

I am still figuring out this site, don't roast me too hard if this is not the way to get a mailbag question in.

The Morning Pitt: 10/1/2024 - Two key areas where Pitt needs to improve

What were the biggest things Pitt needed to work on during the off week? And where do the Panthers need to improve the most? We're looking at two key areas for Pitt heading into the ACC opener against North Carolina on Saturday.

Ranking the ACC: 10/1/2024

We did an ACC ranking last week, so let's do it again (and maybe we'll do it every week). Here are my rankings; reply with yours - or with criticism of all the things I got wrong.

(Last week in parentheses)

1. Miami (1)
2. Clemson (2)
3. Pitt (3)
4. Louisville (4)
5. Duke (6)
6. Boston College (5)
7. Georgia Tech (7)
8. SMU (12)
9. Cal (8)
10. Syracuse (10)
11. Virginia (11)
12. Stanford (9)
13. North Carolina (13)
14. N.C. State (15)
15. Virginia Tech (14)
16. Wake Forest (16)
17. Florida State (17)

- Obviously the biggest mover is SMU, but that's probably because I had them too low at 12 last week.

- I still think Georgia Tech is a dangerous team, so I'm keeping them at 7 despite being 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. That ranking could change quickly.

- Boston College dropped one spot despite not losing this past weekend, but they're a different - and far less dangerous team - without Thomas Castellanos. That plus Duke's comeback win over UNC led to a swap there.

- The bottom five or so are really a mess. Virginia Tech could have beaten Miami, but the difference between a top team and a bottom team is that the first group wins the "could have" games and the second group doesn't.

- Would FSU beat Wake Forest head-to-head? Probably. But I'm keeping the Seminoles at No. 17 just because.

Recruiting Florida

Before they were asked to join the Big12, I advocated inviting UCF into the ACC. Most people thought I was nuts. Maybe I am, but then UCF got the invite and FSU sued.
Well, the bloom is off the Rose in Tallahassee and while UCF isn’t lighting it up, they draw more fans and are better than FSU. UCF goes to Gainesville this week. I’ve seen both teams and UCF is far more physical (if not dirty) than UF.

But my main point is that a 4 star recruit for UCF just de committed. No biggie.
They still have 5 other in state 4 star recruits.
I have never really been sold on the star ratings because those stars often get added when a blue blood offers. But 5 recruits of this ranking cannot be ignored.
Were I calling the shots, I would have 2 of my assistants assigned to recruit FL. I would surrender eastern PA or the WPIAL leaving Narduzzi solely responsible for the WPIAL.

OT: screw the cheating astros

High drama right now with the tigers trying to blow it. Astros got a freaking gift call earlier. A foul tip was called but the first base umpire came in and overruled saying it hit the dirt when it wasn’t clear at all, and wasn’t even clear it was a foul tip. That is a call you see 100 times a year and never get appeal.

bases loaded, Astros down 2, botyom
Nine and freaking Jayson heyward hitting

Pitt New Bowl Projection from Brett McMurphy

Holiday Bowl, Snapdragon Stadium (35,000 capacity, expandable to 50K), San Diego, CA

Friday, December 27, 2024, 5pm PT, Pitt vs. Washington St. (Pitt favored by 0.5)

I’m in if this is the destination (if only to see a new college stadium in a great location)
