After a controversial call last night, we saw an extremely questionable call in the Michigan/Minnesota game today. However, neither can hold a candle to how bad WWF officiating was in 1988.

Not that I'm disappointed but how do you reverse that call on the field on the last play ??? Wow!!

Louisville defense bowed up some in the second quarter but looked like hot garbage the entire first quarter

Offense didn't impress me either, 2 turnovers, plus a turnover on downs, only scored off short fields thanks to 2 ND turnovers

If their defense isn't improved by the time we play them, I feel pretty good about us scoring a bunch on em. And I don't think their offense would be able to keep up. Knock on wood

Dominic Campbell does such a nice job on keeping all of our Pitt sports teams front and center.....really like this fellow.

OK....the out of conference portion of the volleyball schedule is over. The NCAA volleyball stat page is up to date through yesterday. I need to add a caveat. There are 346 universities that play division 1 volleyball. The NCAA does not separate out the stats by conference and they only provide a top 50 statistic for each team or individual athlete. How did Pitt do? Here are the highlights.

Here are some team stats..

• 10 wins....no losses....30 sets in a row won....ranked #1 by the AVCA.
• Putting up a remarkable average of 19.43 pts/set
• My favorite stat....Pitt has won by an average score of 25 -16 for each of the 30 sets they have played. That 9 point difference is obscene.
• Aces/set...#5 in the country
• Assists/set....#7 in the country
• Hitting %....#1 in the country
• Opposition Hitting %....#6 in the country (which means they are holding the opposition to the 6th lowest % in the country)

Here are some individual stats..

• Aces/set....Babcock #20 and Gomez tied for #43 in the country
• Assists/set....Fairbanks #6 in the country
• Hitting %....Stafford #34 in the country. She is the only OH in the country in the top 50....all others are middle blockers as expected.
• Kills/set....Stafford #7 and Babcock #22 in the country
• Pts/set....Babcock #5 and Stafford #11 in the country. They have combined for almost 11 pts/set or nearly 60% of Pitt's point production each and every set.

The season is officially 1/3 finished....now we'll see if they can continue this domination through the conference schedule. That's all.

Huge news for wrestling fans in Western Pennsylvania, as FloWrestling announced on Thursday that Who's No. 1 will be held at Pitt-Johnstown on Sept. 29.
Here's my story for The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat.
For those who don't know, the goal of Who's No. 1 is to bring the top two ranked wrestlers in each weight class together to determine which one gets Flo's No. 1 ranking. Of course, it gets a little more confusing than that due to weight changes, schedule conflicts, injuries, etc. I attended it a couple of times when it was held at Lehigh and it's an amazing event.
Flo hasn't announced a start time yet, but my guess would be late afternoon. They also haven't said when tickets will go on sale, but if you're interested, I'd get them early. Bo Bassett is scheduled to face Daniel Zepeda, the last high school wrestler to beat him, and Jax Forrest has also committed to wrestle, so I expect tickets to go quickly.
I don't remember Pitt-Johnstown's seating capacity -- I think it's between 2,000 and 3,000 -- but there is a second level where fans always stand for sporting events.
It should be a fun night!

Can anyone think of a reason for the super conferences that isn’t TV revenue?

With NIL destined to become contracted PFP why not fix everything once and for all.

Create 12 10 team conferences for all D1 sports based solely on geography. (Revenue$ Saving)

Cap and floor all player salaries.

Share all TV revenue evenly.

In football’s case schedule one (away only) preseason game with an FCS team and two OOC games.

Keep all 42 bowls that exist and each bowl game is a tournament game.

The bowls bid for the round they receive. (Revenue$)

This leaves you with the top-44 making the tournament. 2 from each conference with 20 at-large teams.

I have no doubt that this would actually increase revenue for the major teams because that tournament would be worth exponentially more than the current system.

In the B1G they are never making the playoff as currently constituted.

Mississippi State? No
Texas A&M probably not.
Nebraska, nope.
Michigan State, nuh-uh.

Look at the $EC. Some of these teams will never wver get through a season with less than 3 losses.

The sport could actually grow to NFL like popularity if these “adults” could just see.

Miami losing to vt late in the 2nd quarter. I thought they were the team to beat in the acc. One game at a time but maybe, maybe Pitt is all that!?

Is a freaking senior citizen. He's been playing college ball since the Ming Dynasty.

Anyone seen this guy play? He’s putting up some big rushing numbers. He has nice size….I believe he’s over 200lbs and not a scat back. I’m wondering if Pitt will give him a serious look or has already started to closely watch him.
