Here is the difference between being Preseason ranked and not. Miami and Pitt. A Tale of Two Cities.

Miami is 7-0, ranked 6th in the polls. They started in the polls, Preseason #19.
They opened up beating a mediocre Florida team in the swamp. Then played Florida A&M, Ball State and USF.
Then they hosted VaTech and won in the last seconds.
They beat Cal on an amazing comeback.
They beat Louisville in the last moments.
They are 7-0. They are now ranked #6 in the polls, and considered pretty much a lock for the CFP playoffs.

Pitt started out not getting any votes.
Beat Kent State. Had an amazing comeback on the road against a 5-2 UC team. Had a big comeback over rival WVU. Waxed YSU. Beat UNC in Chapel Hill. Beat Cal in a close won. And now blew out a 5-2 Syracuse team. We are 7-0. Ranked #19 (but likely top 15 after this weekend). Tell me how Preseason rankings don't matter??

While Pitt and Miami don't play each other, Pitt will play ranked Clemson and SMU, Miami doesn't. Pitt and Miami both played or will play Cal, Duke, Syracuse and Louisville. But we are still considered longshots. Sure, win and everything takes care of itself. But it shows the inequities caused by preseason rankings.

Pitt Cuse Prediction time

Last week I didn’t have a real good feeling for this game. And even now after being conditioned by 30 years of disappointment I can’t shake all of the bad vibes

However watching Duzz presser and some of the player interviews I have a good feeling the Panthers will play one of their better games.

I like the fact that the offense is coming off of their worst performance and has had extra time to learn from it and prepare for cuse. I expect Pitts offense to have their best game this year and put up over 40 against Cuse I think Bart is going to have a huge game and Rodney will be a factor as well

As far as the D goes the front 7 had their best game against Cal I like the thread of improvement. Cuse clearly is a much bigger challenge so I don’t expect as dominant of a performance but I think they will be able to hold cuse to somewhere around 30 points

7-0 sounds great. HTP

The production value of the game last night.

Did anyone else notice how poorly produced the game was last night? The camera area was very, very tight on the 2 teams. Very little panned shots and the background sound was extremely muted. I felt like I was watching a high school game.

I guess I expected more from an ESPN produced game. Or maybe it's just me. 🤷‍♀️

who to root for this weekend?

As much as it pains me to support the teams who ride through on their names...

I'll be rooting for Alabama over Missouri, Oregon over Illinois and LSU over A&M. Seems to me that even if they lost one (perhaps even 2) more game this season, all of those teams almost get automatic bids over teams with fewer losses.

Each of the teams they play are sitting in the same #14-21 range that Pitt are in. For any of those equivalently ranked teams, a win this weekend might be seen as a statement win for the end of the year rankings.

Hey Chris or anyone

that can help out. I pay for no ads but for over a month now multiple times a day sometimes as many as ten or twelve I have to log out and log back in to get rid of ads. I keep thinking somehow it’s going to fix itself but I’ve had enough. I’m an old guy so not real tech savvy but this shouldn’t be that hard. Thanks for any help I can get.
