I’n confused

I read all week how trash this program is, how bad Narduzzi is, how the game is going to be over by halftime, blah blah blah

An absolute gutsy performance with our backup QB, half an OL, hobbled RBs and WRs… and you guys are acting like we just lost to Kent St?

Truly a group of clowns who post on here. Not sure how you guys function in real life.

There’s plenty to discuss and criticize but man… that was a gutsy performance by the Panthers today who were 3-9 last year and you guys are ready to fire our coach?

Our fanbase deserves 3-9. Absolute clowns.

The 3-2-1 Column: Lots of thoughts on expectations, what to do at QB, the OL situation, the next test for Pitt hoops and much more

In this week's 3-2-1 Column, we're thinking about changing expectations, the quarterback question, the next step for Pitt hoops and a lot more.

This might be the longest 3-2-1 Column I've ever written. But who's counting.

Tracking the non-conference schedule

NET rankings don’t come out for a few more weeks, and even when they do they aren’t really instructive until the calendar turns. But, we can probably get a decent idea of how the NET rankings will eventually look based on the opponents’ kenpom rating.

For reference, last year’s non-con had one Q1 game, four Q3 games, and six Q4 games. We lost two: Q1 Florida and Q3 Missouri.

Q1
26. @ Ohio State
27. @ Mississippi State
29. N Wisconsin (will either be them or UCF)
40. N LSU

Q2
57. N UCF (will be either them or Wisconsin)

Q3
86. West Virginia (W)
95. Murray State (W)
109. Sam Houston State

Q4
205. Radford (W)
238. Eastern Kentucky
233. Gardner Webb (W)
304. VMI

0 of Top 30 transfers in ACC per 247

CBS Pod talked about this. Were asking: "Is the ACC poor?" And to an extent, that answer is yes. The ACC isnt spending as much in pay for play NIL salaries relative to their peers. That said, there are so many transfers that there's very little difference between #10 and #100. Very little difference between #50 and #200. Its a really difficult to rank these guys which is why I think teams like Pitt and Wake have been able to do really well in this market cheaply.

Found a hack the ACC should use to get more teams in

As we know, non-conference SOS is a top-line metric that the committee uses and its the sole reason Pitt was left out. How many times did Lunardi say there's never been a team with a non-con SOS as bad as ours that's gotten in. Of course, he never said there's never been a bubble team with as many true road wins as us that has been left out but that's what he does. He drives the narrative. That said, ACC teams need to schedule better and maybe they've corrected some of that this year, not really sure but I found an easy hack to do exactly what they've always done but make their non-con SOS look extremely good. How?

Go to a 12-14 game ACC schedule. Play 8-10 extra OOC games vs ACC teams. These would be scheduled by the league and would look and feel like conference games but would go into the non-con bucket. Think about last year. Lets say the road game at Duke was a non-con. That skyrockets our non-con SOS and we probably make the tournament. It sounds ridiculous but they put so much weight on your non-con that its probably true.

Video: Narduzzi on Signing Day, the quarterbacks, Louisville and more

Pat Narduzzi held his final press briefing of the week on Thursday and talked about Signing Day, Pitt's quarterbacks, Saturday's game at Louisville and a lot more. Here's video of what he said.

Babcock & Fairbanks - ACC Players Of The Week

I'm pretty sure Florida State and Miami would agree with this!

Women's Basketball

Ok, two wins so far. Canisius was awful and couldn't handle our press. We had 14 steals while they had an almost unheard of 35 TO's. I say "almost" because our team last year also had unheard of TO #'s. We had an A/T0 ratio of 15/11 in the Bucknell game, MAJOR improvement. We'll see if that holds up against WVU (next game) and once we're in ACC competition. IMO we're an improved team because of our transfers. I posted in the summer that we now have tremendous depth in the backcourt and the newbies might be starting ahead of our returnees.
Marley doesn't have to be playing the point where she was a TO machine. Transfer Miles is a definite improvement there, although not a scoring threat. Battle however is proving as a Sophthat she was a legitimate recruit last year. She also can score and run the offense effectively. Marley not worrying about running the team can now concentrate on what she does best.....be
physical, draw offensive charges, and get steals. So far it appears she can give us some scoring, yet only have 4 TO's in two games. The main guard addition appears to be Jenkins. She's had 10 and 19 pts so far. She's physical enough, has a good floor game, and a decent handle. What does surprise me is the reduced minutes Malcolm is getting. Same with Perkins.

As for the inside, the addition of Faye is what we needed. She can score, is physical, and can rebound. She's had 25 and 8 pts so far, has a presence inside and rebounds. Elmore also is a good addition inside. We're definitely better there.Rust is also on the inside, a little undersized at 6'0'', but we have no other choices.

I've only seen us on tv, so this is knowingly limited.....just what I see so far. I'd be interested to hear what those seeing games in person think. I think we''ll still struggle in the ACC, but I see us stronger due to a more talented backcourt with depth, and better talent with some height inside. This program has a long way to go, but it looks better IMO so far this year.
