Do the people who thought the Steelers should shut Kenny down for the final 3 weeks feel stupid yet?

They should.

The progress and confidence he's gotten from these past few games is worth WAY more than the difference between the 12th and 18th pick in the draft.

You can't learn how to be an NFL QB by watching film or by reps in practice.

When you draft a QB in the first round, you play him every game. Should've been QB1 in training camp.

Attendance tonight

Not looking good…. Pitt prices their single game tickets way too high, especially for a program coming off 6 terrible seasons.

Right now, especially with this momentum and students still not back, they should be basically giving away tickets ($5 upper deck tickets, Buy 3 get 1 free lowers, etc)

Look at the map on the single game ticket site here

There’s not going to be anybody there. A shame given the magnitude of what this game could do for the program.

How some may have done post Portal transfer

First, and as in other threads, prayers for Mr. Hamlin for a full recovery. Lord willing he will regain all faculties and continue to have a blessed life with or without football. Football being least important. Not to make it a "rub it in" think if things not going "well" but I am curios to see how the kids that moved on are or had done the past season(s). This is what I could find:

Joey Yellen: School: Hawaii Games: 4 Stats: about 400 yards. Seemed to be QB2

Jordan Addison: School: USC Games: 11 Stats: about 900 yards. I think had some injuries

JoJo Belgrave: School: Tennessee Martin Stats: N/A

Davis Beville : School: Oklahoma Games: 2 Stats: about 100 yards

Michael Statham (OT): School: Charlotte Stats: N/A

Hunter Sellers (DB): School: New Mexico Stats: listed on 2 deep

Cam Bright (LB): School: Washington Stats: Team Captain, 13 games, HM and third team Pac - 12

Noah Palmer (DT) School: Duquesne Stats: 11 Games , double digit tackles

Todd Sibley (RB) School: Albany Stats: 10 games, right at about 1000 yards

Shocky jacques- Loius (WR) School: Akron Stats: 12 games, right at about 1000 yards

AJ Roberts (LB) School: Stony Brook Stats: 9 games 25 tackle range

Wendell Davis (LB) School: Northwestern Stats: 8 Games about 30 tackles, 1 sack

AJ Davis (RB) School: FAMU Stats: about 400 all purpose yards

Will Gipson (WR) School: NM State Stats: N/A, spent year at JC

Shotgun on 3rd/4th and 1

So I saw USC did this, they were on their 1 yard line, lined up in shotgun, ran a zone read concept and got blown up and tackled three yards into the end zone for a safety.

Can someone who is more attuned to modern coaching and philosophy explain to me what they (or any OC in a similar spot) are thinking there? It drives me crazy when I see it. Is it just because the QB doesn't have any experience under center?

We will beat Virginia tonight

This isn’t meant to be a stone cold lock. They are dead last in the ACC defending the 3 pointer. It’s because they run their traditional pack line defense with inexperienced players. Players sag on defense and the have to locate the 3 point shooter who gets the ball and close out very quick. That is very tough to do as a layer.

Teams that can drive and kick and players that can relocate to open spots can beat them if they shoot well. Virginia is giving up 41 percent from 3 this year.

UNC just rolled them
74-58. This is a game for the taking. The only one concern and it is a big one is the pack line defense takes away the middle and mid range where Burton does all his work. If we don’t figure that out then I am not so confident in my prediction. But I still feel like we can beat them with our outside shooting and being home.

It's time to install Duzz as Pope.

I think he's our Frank Beamer. Install him for life. Don't do a Jamie Dixon.

Don't try to get happier than happy. He makes us and this program happy.

Give him.more money for assistants. What we're saving in not buying out bad fb coaches (finally) should be invested in the program.

He's our guy. Accept his flaws and appreciate the great things he's done for our program.

The Morning Pitt: 1/3/2023 - Thinking about Damar Hamlin

On today's Morning Pitt, we're thinking about former Pitt safety and current Buffalo Bill Damar Hamlin, who collapsed on the field during Monday Night Football.

Article In the film room: The book on Burton

Jamarius Burton has been nothing short of spectacular for the Pitt Panthers (10-4, 3-0) as they look to make a little noise in the ACC this season.

Let's take a look at what Burton has done this season.

tonight at home against Virginia.

Panthers are on the verge of tangible momentum nationally. Have won 9 of 10.

The Pete should be on FIRE.” Login to view embedded media
Of course this matters very little in the grand scheme; just felt like sharing in some attempt to continue in normal routine. We are all thinking of Damar Hamlin in this difficult time and pray for his full recovery. Sports is just one of many things that unite us. Every day is a gift.
