9-4 the rest of the way is the minimum to get a bid - I just don’t see it….

We will be underdogs in these 3 games for sure:

@UNC
@Wake
@SMU

So, just for arguments sake, give those all as losses.

We have to go 9-1 in all other games, with UNC at home, @ND, @NC St.

I just don’t know if we can do it. I think we are more likely to miss than make the tournament, and that’s crazy after the start we had.

0-4 since Dame Dunn came back BTW, make of that what you will…

Is the scholarship limit 105 this season?

I believe it's still pending a final approval, but supposing that goes through and the limit goes up to 105 for this season (the 2025-2026 academic year), what exactly happens in 2025? Do we just take what we can get out of the portal, give some scholarships to current walk-ons who we want to keep, and then take a way bigger high school class than usual (the majority of whom won't be on scholarship until 2026)?

Have to think this has a trickle-down effect on FCS, D2, and D3 if most FBS teams do come close to that 105 limits. That's 2,680 more benchwarmers the big leagues will be harboring.

Anyway, I assume we have to remain at or under 85 for now, but I'm just curious if this creates a larger Spring portal surge than usual. I believe May 1st in the deadline to enter; not sure if this is expected to be approved by then. I haven't really been keeping up with this stuff.

OT: Hot Pocket microwave sleeves????

I normally bring a salad and some grilled chicken to work for lunch. But I'm kind of getting tired of it and wanted some sort of comfort food since it has been so cold and snowy. So for the first time in years, I grabbed some Hot Pockets at the store yesterday. I opened up the box this morning to grab one to take for lunch and was shocked that there was no microwave sleeve. I found out that they did away with them as a cost savings and landfill waste reduction program this past summer. It has been a few years since I've had one so I had no idea that they changed. So now instead of looking forward to a hot sort of crispy hot pocket, I'm stuck with a soggy mess. F Nestle!

Ford Field Experience

It is a short and the weather was fine for December in Detroit.
The Panthers were very well represented and the fans were enthusiastic.
Ford Field is an excellent facility.
I'll take climate-controlled and 72 degrees any day of the week.
A fun trip except for the outcome.
If in Detroit, Mitsos Greek Food. The wait is worth it for the traditional Greek gyro made from hand-stacked pork.

Two of the best lineups in the country

According to Evan Miya, Pitt has two of the best five-man lineups in the country in terms of efficiency margin:

Lowe/Leggett/Dunn/Austin/Corhen has the fourth-highest efficiency margin in the country. Lowe/Leggett/Dunn/Guillermo/Corhen is 13th.

Auburn is the only other team with two five-man lineups in the top 15 nationally in efficiency margin.

Obviously, there are some caveats with two lineups that include Dunn, since he missed a bunch of games. Both both of those lineups played 90+ possessions on each end of the court, so it's not entirely a small sample size. At the same time, most of those possessions came against mid or low-major opponents, so that's worth considering, too.

Overall, I think it speaks (somewhat) to the value Dunn brings and how Pitt is at its best with him on the court (although I know that most people's concerns are not about the guards).

JMO...ASU got screwed....

In the last minute of regulation. ASU receiver caught a pass just over mid field with less than a minute in regulation and closing in on a winning field goal attempt. He got nailed while still defenseless with a helmet right to the face. Should have been 15 yards for targeting but they reviewed it and said no targeting. The defender planted the crown of his helmet right in the receiver's face and just about knocked him out. If that wasn't a classic target I don't know what is. Should have had the ball inside the 35 with time left.

What is the Pitt equivalent...

What is the Pitt equivalent to the Steelers going 10-7ish and losing a wildcard game?

I see people criticizing Narduzzi and praising Tomlin, or vice versa, and it seems very inconsistent.

I would say 8-5 for Pitt is about the same as the Steelers pulling their annual early playoff exit off. And personally, I'd like to move on from both of these coaches.
