With WVU focusing obsessively on us lately with RichRod and saying we only focus on 13-9, it got me thinking...I hate WVU but I hate Ped State much worse. I would say 80% of my other team hatred goes to Ped State and maybe 20% goes to WVU. I also hate USC and Ohio State but won't include them.

Particularly with the news of Bass, Edwards, Gandy and Crumpley now throwing defensive depth into question, this Yogi Berra quote is pretty apropros right now.

The enrollment deadline for the spring semester at Pitt is Wednesday , 1/8. I am assuming that almost any transfer that Pitt would be counting on for significant snaps in 2025 should be there for spring practices, unless it is a guy with 3yrs of eligibility or something remaining. To that end, it would seem like Pitt needs to sign:

2 OL
2 DE
1-2 CB
1 LB (Keye Thompson like)
1 RB
1 QB (veteran back up type)

That's a lot of work to do in just over a week and while some positions are off the list from earlier in December, the list is no shorter than it was then. I know there are offers out there, but this is a LOT of work to do in very little time.

I was rooting for them because of their opponent but won’t root for them against any one else but I will admit that they are less unlikeabke that Kelly has left and Freeman seems like a class act but he did run up the score against Pitt in 2023. I wonder who they will poach for the Qb for the 2O25 season?

USA wins gold medal vs Finland in overtime in IIHF World Juniors. Overcame a 3-1 deficit. Two golds in a row.

Pitt is currently a 9.5 point favorite. Assuming Leggett plays I think they win....I honestly don't know much about Stanford this year though, I assume we should win even without him right? I do know they have a really good big man that could give us trouble though, that worries me.

Any thoughts on the game?

I love our guards but tonight it was obvious to me they weren’t going to have their way in the lane. Our outside shooting wasn’t clicking either because of their length that challenged ever attempt, so why not try going big with the twins, Corhen or Kante. Again, I love our guards but tonight evidently needed an adjustment of some sort. Kante was a great adjustment in the OSU game that led to a win, but we did nothing against Duke to cause them to adjust. Tonight the 3 guard look was a disaster, so at least try something!

Pitt has a big opportunity tonight when the Panthers take on Florida State in Tallahassee. What does Jeff Capel's crew need to do against the Seminoles? And could the NCAA be on the verge of making a notable change to the transfer portal? All that and more on today's Morning Pitt.

I was waiting until halftime to live bet this game but the comeback started early. Some thoughts:

• I wasn't super impressed with Stojakovic. In fact, we probably blow out Cal even worse if they don't make 24 FTs.
• Graham twins combined for 32 minutes, 5 fouls, and 4 rebounds.
• The funniest part about this Lowe performance is he actually didn't really shoot well. But 27 points, 8-8 from the line, and really never let Cal get back in it.
• This was by far the best Corhen game. 7-8 from the field, 19 points, 11 boards, including 4 on the offensive glass.
• I'll still never understand how a sniper like Delalic can be 44% from 3 but shoot FTs so poorly. It's not just the % either. They all have bad spin and most aren't close.
• We are not going to be able to lose any stinkers this year with how poor the ACC. Hopefully we smoke Stanford and set up a big game with Duke.
• I still can't believe we aren't ranked. Four teams in the top 25 have 3 losses. 2 have 4.

Pitt currently -4. I feel pretty confident today going into the game. This team has done well bouncing back and I think they will come out today to prove something after that Duke game. This is a pretty big game in itself today and Louisville has been playing well. I think Pitt wins 79 - 70

Playing corner at Illinois. Just saw him break up a pass in the end zone, heard the name and looked him up. He is indeed the son of Panther standout Torrie Cox.

All Colorado football players will play in Alamo Bowl. No opt-outs. Nice to see in this day and age.
