ACC Sucks!!! 1-8......5 games remaining on top of the ACC/SEC challenge and all....

I am sorry......you got to fire Jim Phillips, the ACC Commissioner. He has been an abject disaster. I know much of this is not directly his fault, but as we have seen in Presidential elections, sometimes the events and results cost elected officials their jobs. The ACC was an aggressor in the 2000's, with the Big East raid, then taking Pitt and Syracuse, but as we joined we got a chance to see behind the curtain a conference really run by hayseeds. The ACC hired Jim Phillips from the Big 10 (Northwestern) but he has almost acted like like a double knot spy for the Big 10/SEC in killing the ACC. Basketball has crashed and burned. Now football is doing the same.

As I said, yeah alot is not his fault but.....................he is the man in charge. You got to fire him and get someone else, just to change momentum, hell karma aka "juju" because Phillips seems to have the reverse Midas touch and everything he does turns to crap.

The ACC has to move on from this guy. It has become a complete embarrassment. And the networks and media and sycophants of the power 2 are preying on this.

Quad Deal @ Rider Friday 12/20

Dual Meets Against Rider, SDSU and Maryland.

10am: Dual vs Maryland
125: Babin/Marlow vs. Garvin
Garvin is a true freshman who is .500 on the year (4-4). Whoever we send out here is someone I would expect to be able to beat Garvin. PITT FAVORED
133: Vinnie vs. Brown
These two split last season. Brown has had a pretty good start to the year and based on their matches last year this really could go either way. TOSS UP
141: Santaniello vs. Lemus
Battle of two redshirt freshman. Both have started the season pretty well. This is one there is not much data on so I am going to hedge and call it a TOSS UP
149: Solomon vs. Kal Miller
Kal Miller is in his first season up at 149, he was a 141lb wrestler the last two seasons. He has had some big losing streaks as the season goes on in the past but is normally pretty good in the early dual season. He majored Cole in the dual last year, beat him at an open in January and then lost in tiebreakers at NCAAs. His brother Ethen was at 149 last year and beat Finn 7-3. I can't really find much to call this match on so it has to be a TOSS UP
157: Evans vs. Ethen Miller
Miller is another guy moving up a weight class, he is undefeated so far this season with some nice wins. Again not a ton to go off of, Evans was outmatched against Gallagher in the last dual and I hope he comes out looking to put it on Miller in this one. TOSS UP
165: Keslar vs. John Martin Best
Best has a career 17-23 record. He has solid results this season but all against lower-caliber competition. Based on his career work I expect a confident Keslar after that Sasso match to continue the positive momentum. PITT FAVORED
174: Luca vs. Branson John
John is a true freshman who is 6-4 on the year. He seems to be wrestling well but Luca should beat him and I would hope can get to his offense more than he has so far this year. PITT FAVORED
184: Heller vs. Smith
This is the match of the dual. Smith is coming down from 197 where he has had some big years but never cracked the podium. This match will be a gauge on where he stands down at 184 and also another big test for Reece's undefeated record. TOSS UP
197: Stout vs. Mielnik
Mielnik was down at 184 last year and got TF by Reece in the dual. This year he swapped with Smith and has had a string of pretty solid results. However, Mac is better than him and I would hope is able to get bonus points. PITT FAVORED
285: Pitzer vs Nevills
Nevills is very talented and has been around forever. Pitzer has been more consistent over the last few years but Nevills pushed him in last years dual in a 4-3 match. This one has to be a TOSS UP.

Pitt vs. UMD
4 Pitt Favored, 6 Toss Up, 0 UMD Favored
This is a dual we should expect to win but it really could go either way depending on how everything shakes out.

Luckily we play in the ACC

My God, the SEC was even better than I thought. SEC up 12-1 with NC St, Duke, and VT in close games.

This shouldn't come as any real big surprise. And this isnt all NIL. The SEC has maybe like 12 of the best 25 or so coaches in college basketball. You can argue about the list and I'm not sure who all should or shouldn't be on it but the collection of coaches they have is just incredible. Does it remind you this:

Calhoun, Boeheim (in prime), Dixon, Huggins, Buzz, Cronin, Wright, Brey. There's a reason that old Big East was really good. College basketball will always be a coach's game. College football is a player's game. There's enough good basketball players in this country to find 3 good ones and then some capable complementary players. Pitt will be ok but the rest of the ACC is an abortion. And its not even that all the coaches are that bad. We just have a bunch of average coaches and that's just not going to cut it vs the ACC.

This SEC, this year, may be the best conference of all time. They could get 13 or 14 teams in the tournament. If the ACC & BE only combine for 7 or 8, its possible. Not likely, but possible.

OT: “Carry On” on Netflix

It’s a Christmas movie in the same way “Die Hard” was a Christmas movie. Watched it Saturday night after the football games and it’s pretty good.

Stars Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton (Welsh actor who played Elton John in “Rocketman”). About a TSA officer trying to stop a suitcase full of a deadly nerve agent from blowing up a plane with 250 passengers on board on Christmas Eve.

Multiview on YouTubeTV is amazing. I was able to watch 10 football games (7 college bowl games and three NFL games) on Saturday. But, watching this after the last whistle was blown was a nice change of pace.

Jason Bateman makes a pretty convincing villain. The rest of the cast is pretty average but the plot keeps the movie moving.

Analytics

I looked up the analytics.

4th and goal at the one.

If you go for it:

76% success
24% fail
= 76% chance of winning

Vs

Kick FG (96% success)
+
One play from the 3 (63% success)
+
Stop other team from 3 (37% success)
= 48% chance of winning

So Narduzzi traded a 76% chance of winning for a 48% chance of winning.

Brilliant.

Our head coach has a very low football IQ.

Narduzzi has no business being a P5 head coach

The decision to kick a field goal with 1 yard to win on 4th down alone disqualifies Narduzzi. Here is why:
1. He could either try from the 1 yard line with a W or he could try for a tie, win or loss from the 4 yard line. That is like throwing away an ACE when you have royal flush and hoping you get a 9. NO ONE WITH A BRAIN ADDS 3 yard from the 1 to the 4 under any circumstance let alone removing a certain W if you score in exchange for a tie or worse.
2. But I don’t attribute that decision to poor poker. It’s worse. I do not believe Narduzzi (and never will) knew the OT rules. He had no idea or did not think it through before he called for Saul and he did not know when they called the trick play.

Narduzzi’s demeanor and words after the game admit as much. That he pulled out the “feel bad for our seniors” gimmick offends me and should offend any player.

The man is 2 games above 500 against P5 teams. After 10 years and 2 miserable seasons in a row with the clear inability to spot QB talent is inexcusable. The man makes more than 6 million.

He is a thief.
