Anybody have any ideas ?

I personally only want 2 jerseys , if this is true I hope they only wear the new ones once a year.

I have a copy of the alternate helmet.

I think it will either be black or gray matte. I'm guessing black, because weren't there a batch of facemasks they had painted black a few months ago? Either way, I'm completely fine with it, as long as it actually looks nice. People want to make us into Penn State and Alabama with only having two traditional looks, but the truth of the matters is that we don't have that tradition, so why pretend? I'd rather keep up with the times and appeal to recruits' interests. And I won't lie: I also like many of these alternate uniforms. Many jump the shark, but there are some really good-looking ones out there.

Black jerseys or Midnight Panther jerseys look great in images and glamour shots, but the reality is they will look bad at Heinz Field with a bunch of empty seats showing while Pitt is trying to "black out" the stadium. It will only draw more attention to the attendance. We simply are in no position to pull it off successfully, and I hope they realize it.

Duquesne wore black and gold unis in hoops last year. I wouldn’t mind Pitt doing that once a year, for a Thursday night game. Yeah it would be a little weird not being our colors, but I’m sure high school kids would like it if they made it look good.

I like the black panther idea. Black jerseys, blue letters, yellow accents seems interesting to me. I'm not hardcore about the regular colors, so...

Not to mention

Bama and Penn State literally have the two worst uniforms in college sports

Boredom isn’t tradition it just sucks ass.

Pitt had the premiere uniforms in college football last year and Nike had to invent the Cathedral numerals, which just don't work for the football jerseys. I can't say I'm that excited for what they're going to come up with.

I can definitely empathize, because I thought the same thing at first. I thought we just took perfection and made it worse for no reason other than to justify calling it a change. But I must say... I've done a complete 180 on the numbers. The front might not be what I would choose to do if I were designing them, but I've come around to not hate it. I think it makes last year's big block front on the throwbacks look dated. Same with the color...hated the yellow numbers at first, but now I'm wondering why in the world they were ever white. It might take me a bit longer to come around on the stripes, though. I also think the basketball uniforms suck. But I'm finally loving these new football uniforms.

The only reason they were ever block white numerals was because they were the same block generic numbers everyone used before numbers became more customized across the board.

I’m all for the cathedral numbers for that reason alone... white block just isn’t anything but conformity.

Heck even the Stillers have numbers that stand alone... so should Pitt and now they do thankfully.

Next year means a new, alternate football jersey “inspired by the Cathedral,” Spears said. Told you Nike was enamored with it.

“Wait until you see the alternates in 2020,” Spears said. “Wait until you see them. They’re so amazing — I just can’t wait.”

Yeah, but if you win in them they look a lot better. If The uniform is synonymous with that winning feeling then it will be beloved

Honestly, I don’t think they’re too bad. If you’re not Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, USC, etc. you should expect Nike to create a custom font for your team. It’s what they do for everyone and, as we’ve seen, it can be a lot worse.

The only changes I’d make to the uniform as a whole is making them closer resemble our traditional uniforms; Yellow face mask, white numbers with yellow outline, and yellow name plates. But we look like Pitt again, and for me that’s the biggest thing.

As for the alternate, Nike actually does a good job at the black uniform look so I’m hopeful they’ll do the same for us. Perhaps they implement a matte or chrome back helmet, but I think it’ll still have the Pitt Script. I haven’t seen any uniforms that they switched the helmet decal for black alternates.

I prefer the classic white numbers, but I don't mind the new cathedral inspired numbers. They are 10x better than the previous cathedral inspired numbers designed by Nike interns.
