A note on the future of Panther-Lair.com

So, if I'm not mistaken, the Pitt Rivals site (presumably under a new name) will still exist under a new moderator? So Pittsburgh.Rivals.Com should still work; it just won't be called Pantherlair and Chris Peak won't be the one running the show. Seems like not a whole lot would change, then, under those circumstances. Particularly on the free board.

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but why is this site closing \moving? Is Mr Peak no longer interested in moderating a free site or is there a reason it's ceasing to exist as presently set-up? I've always enjoyed reading posts here, posters are knowledgeable and sensible for the most part.

That’s what happened when Tom McAndrew left Rivals to join either On3 or 247Sports. Blue & White Illustrated simply changed to Happy Valley Insider and the message boards remained the same.

I'm pretty sure he "leases" (for lack of a better term) the Rivals platform, and I assume they issue him a 1099 based on subscriber revenue. So I'm guessing that lease has just expired and he's opting to take his talents elsewhere (sounds like 247). So this place should still exist but with someone else calling the shots. I don't think all the activity is going to be deleted tonight at midnight or anything, but I could be way off on that.

Did the message board "reset?" Like did the wipe out all the posts prior to that change?

So it sounds like it'll be business as usual, then, aside from being able to access the site via the Panther-Lair.Com URL, which I never had any luck with anyway.
I wasn’t around then so I can’t confirm this, but I’d guess that URL is the original site from before he joined Rivals in 2001.

So it seems that a message board for Pitt on Rivals will be around starting at midnight. Peak is probably going to 24/7 sports and taking Pantherlair name.

My guess is that it will just be called Pitt Message board or something like that.

Cause Souf and SMF don't make enough money to pay for subscriptions.

You too. I was literally just thinking you haven’t been around as much these days. Hope you’re well. I’m sticking around here as long as things are good. Can’t have enough Pitt coverage.
Does that mean you’re making the move as well? Always enjoyed your contributions to the board, especially on the Olympic sports side.

Even though Trump told all of Europe not to allow his pipeline through Germany. Even though Trump killed 77 Russian mercenaries in Saudi Arabia (i forget where). Even though Trump sent Ukraine missiles to defend themselves in his 1st term and just sent them millions more.... but yeah, that makes sense. Smh
Libs so easily manipulated

I wonder if PSN will be the new sheriff in town. Didn't they originally try to setup a message board on their site? Don't they currently have a modest subscription base for "die-hard" information. Would kind of make sense.

Pitt and college football are worthless to talk about anymore. That is probably the real reason for all this.
The past 20 years were fun but college football is dead as we know it.
A Recruiting site ?? no need ,the fun is over. Most of us are all old men. turn the page
