. After the 1st round, Jason Peters has Pitt well on the way to an embarrassing last place finish at the ACC Tournament. Only 3 Pitt wrestlers advanced past the first round, and one of those, Dom Forys, had a bye. (Forys also won his semi-final bout.)
Every other ACC school advanced at least 5 wrestlers into the semi-finals. Even worse, some of the losses were really bad. Ronnie Garbinsky list the last match he will ever wrestle at Pitt by a 17-0 technical fall. Pitt also lost by TFs or pins at 141, 149 and 184. Cody Wiericoch was beaten soundly at 165. Continuing the trend of Pitt wrestlers running out of gas in the third round, Bono had a 3-2 lead late when a stalling point cost him overtime. Bentley lost a close match at 125. Not a single Pitt wrestler picked up bonus points. I believe both NC State and VT have more bonus points than Pitt has points.
