Lots of parallels here.

Huggs had a long and successful but underwhelming in the NCAA tourney at Cincinnati. But also a tenure full of controversy. Cincy then fired Huggins. Huggins landed at BB wasteland K State until his alma mater's job came open and the Alma Mater embarrassed at the time turned to Huggins, an alum.

They haven't looked back.

This is very similar to Sean Miller's situation right now if he is fired. I'd say if the marriage is there, go for it, it is worth it moreso for Pitt with Miller than any other program.

Huggins wasn't on FBI wiretaps.

Huggins didn't have an assistant under indictment for paying players.

This is the point in all this. Like Miller or not the main reason for not hiring him in my book is not his coaching ability. It is what substance is there to the accusations. Pitt cannot afford to hire anybody who then turns out to be dirty in any way.

You people who don’t want Miller are all a bunch of babies. Ever make a mistake in your life and get a second chance? Who cares about the FBI and the NCAA?? Teams have been paying players for years and it will never, ever, ever change. So keep on going and bring home the alumni we all want and deserve.

I've made mistakes. Never ones that required federal investigators to get involved.

Whether some of us don't want Miller is irrelevant. Pitt won't hire him. We can be absolutely certain of that. He is "radioactive."

Huggs had a DUI and low graduation rates. Sean Miller is directly involved with an FBI investigation and one of his assistants is indicted for paying players. These are not even close to the same thing.

WVU had just made the Elite Eight, Sweet Sixteen and won the NIT. Beline left for more money than WVU was willing to pay and we hired Huggs the next day. We were not "embarrassed at the time." Pitt pushed Dixon out because of early tournament losses and went 0-19 in league play 2 years later. Dixon is a 6 seed at TCU. You are embarrassed.

If Miller is hired, he will likely be fired a year or two down the road once the FBI investigation plays out. That would set Pitt even further back.

I hope you guys make a good hire and we end up playing games just like the good ones of the past but please don't think that hiring Miller is the same as hiring Huggs.

Hard to coach from jail.

Why? Will he hurt the program?

Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha

Whether he will hurt the program or not has absolutely nothing to do with it. Pitt admin folks won't hire anyone involved or who may be implicated in a cheating scandal for ethical reasons. Even if the hoops fans don't care about the ethics issues involved--the Pitt administration and Board of Trustees do care. Miller will neither be considered nor interviewed. So it is a waste of time for fans to be wishing and hoping that Pitt will hire him.

So if he wins one of those overtime games vs Wisconsin we should hire him?

Yeah, I have no doubt Miller is dirty, but you can basically completely throw out the ESPN wiretap report by Schlabach. The entire timeline was wrong. TWICE. Schlabach hasn't tweeted or made a sound since. It is pretty clear the report was, at best, way, way off.

Or it can afford to have a dirty coach because right now they have no coach and only 3 players. Last time I check you need 5 players on a team in basketball.

And I add, Rick Pitino is available. And wasn’t on a wiretap if that is what concerns you.

And last time I checked our first game isn’t till sometime in November.
