Carlton Carrington MLK Classic 42 point scoring record, Full Game Video / Box Score

Carrington being an east coast guy who plays for a prominent high school team has resulted in him having as many eyes on him as anyone. You’re always seeing tweets from guys who work for the recruiting services who are at St. Frances games watching him.
No doubt. I have seen a ton of basketball and I am wondering what criteria these evaluators use to determine a guy let’s say above number 25.

I found this article which explains one scout and what they look for and how it differs from Scout to scout ESPN and Scout use a team of ppl to determine ratings. Rivals use one analyst based on another article I read. They all say the same thing. It’s a very inexact science even to evaluate them now and way harder to project them as a college player. So I am interested about our incoming recruiting class but will wait to evaluate them when they put on a Pitt jersey and watch them play the Duke and Clemsons in our conference.

I also will stop busting on Vadar. I appreciate his stats. But beyond that like all the other evaluatorsI will hold off on his prospects deserved rankings as well.

Curious to get your assessment on Barnes...we know that Carrington and Lowe have great potential...Barnes? Thanks!

Barnes is a 3 and D guy right now. He can shoot the 3, a little bit off the bounce and in the midrange but he's much better as a spot up shooter. He has the physical aspects to be a high level defender in college in the mold of a Gilbert Brown. He's a pretty darn good defender now and that is how his high school team is winning games right now because their guards are terrible this year on offense and they play a slow it down grind it out style with a focus on defense and rebounding. He needs to work on his offense, his consistency on offense, his explosiveness on his first step, and his dribbling. Id like to see him be more assertive on offense. He is coming in as a decent shooter, a good defensive player, a decent rebounder, and a decent passer. Think Audiese Toney in his first year, or even the Santos role this year except he is being counted on to make 3 point baskets. Legit 6'6, big wingspan, and decent athletic ability to work with with decent upside if he can can fine tune his offensive game. Plays hard on defense.

On the subject of recruiting,

Jaland Lowe has went for back to back 35 point games followed by a 28 point game. He has officially scored over 2000 points in high school. Lowe's team remains ranked in the top 5 in the state of Texas and he is trying to power them into the Final 4 this year.

Carlton Carrington scored 30 his last game and has 15 at the half right now in tonights game. He continues to be St. Francis best player on a team that features a borderling 5 star guard in 2025 that we should be recruiting and another 4 star guard in the backcourt. Carrington is averaging around 25 points per game his senior season.

Kyle Green Jr is planning to take a visit to Pitt. He is a borderline top 75 4 star point guard in the class of 2024. Green and his father both have taken quite a liking to Coach Capel.

5 Star Meleek Thomas was again at Pitt today. Its at least the 5th Pitt game he has taken in. He is great friends with Brandin Cummings, his teammate. They have been speaking about going to college together. Thomas is one of the best players overall and one of the top scorers in the country in 2025. Its early, but I like our position here.

Carrington finishes with 27 tonight and 15-15 from the free throw line. Also added 4 steals on defense to help seal the win tonight 66-62.

Carlton Carrington scores 43 and 34 points in back to back games as his lethal shooting continues. Carrington is averaging 31 points per game over the course of his last 10 games. His team is 3rd in the Baltimore Catholic league at 6-2 and has played a nationally loaded schedule against nationally ranked teams . At this junction Carrington should be the runaway favorite for Baltimore catholic league player of the year over 5 star Tyler Jackson and Top 50 National recruit Amani Hansberry of St. Joseph. At this junction Carrington is also probably the favorite for state player of the year in Maryland. It would be really, really cool to see Carrington win player of the year in Maryland and Lowe win it in Texas. Not only is it possible, it might be likely at this point. These 2 have played as well as we could have hoped / wanted their senior seasons.

I think that kid from Duncansville who signed with Texas is the runaway favorite for Texas POY. Carrington’s going to be a better player than Hansberry though I think

If you are talking about Ron Holland of Duncanville who was selected as a McDonald all American, he is averaging 21 points per game and 9 rebounds per game.

He's going to be in the running for the award. Although those stats are not as great as Lowe's.

Let's wait and see if Carrington can even play against college competition in real college games first before declaring him a great player. And more importantly, let's wait and see if he even shows up in a Pitt uniform. I don't believe any of these kids are Pitt recruits until I see them in a Pitt uniform and on the court playing in a real game. His signed LOI means nothing until that happens. They're kids and they're fickle.
🙄🙄 smh just admit u don't like Capel.
