Night before notes:

- 4 expected starters slated to wrestle
- Camacho
- McMillen
- Reece Heller
- Slinger

- Badgett listed at 149
- No entry at 133
- Lledo back at 184
- No Pitzer

No Pitzer was rumored but the fact that Slinger is wrestling suggests that maybe Pitzer will be the guy at 285

It’s going to be a lot of fun watching Pitzer over the next couple years. This kid is a growing beast.

Pitzer isn’t going because he can only be used 5 times without burning his redshirt. Not going to burn one of the 5 at the clarion open.
So the second semester can he wrestle as many unattached tournaments as he wants and still have five “Pitt” matches to wrestle while still maintaining his red shirt??

Brock McMillen went down in round 1
Looked bad doing it too. Wrestled as flat as one could wrestle. Perhaps thats why Badgett is at 149. Maybe he thinks he can get that spot. Maybe he can

Who is Carson Miller? Gave #1 seed Worthing all he could handle. Might have won if he didnt gas out. Good balance and scrambling ability.

Most of the Pitt guys are wrestling well. Nick Meglino is a surprise into the semis. Magin wrestled well in his loss to #3. Had a shot to win. Mac Stout has been dominating. Laffey looks solid, as does Pletcher, Keslar, and Miller.

The depth on this team is much improved

I think that's correct
The way I understand the rule, a Red Shirt can wrestle in 5 Scheduled Events in the first semester and cannot go unattached. In second semester a RS can wrestle in as many unattached events as they want to but cannot wrestle in a team event or as an attached wrestler or they lose their RS. The rule was put in place so Freshman could ease in to the first semester of college and not worry about attending as unattached. When wrestling unattached, wrestler has to bear all costs, hotel, travel, entry fee, etc... and team coaches cannot coach them. The RTC coach can coach, or a team member, parent, etc...

The 5 dates count either semester, and they can do two 2 day events that only count as 1 date. Only things that can't be wrestled are conference/ncaa tournaments.

True freshman cannot wrestle unattached 1st semester but they can 2nd semester, only issue 2nd semester is lack of open tournaments.

Thanks, the 5 match rule is where the confusion lies. One coach I spoke to was under impression they were just in 1st semester. Seams reasonable to use them throughout the season.

as far as opens, we found 6-7 in Jan-Feb last year. Half were D3 schools but the completion was filled with D1 wrestlers. This was just in Pa and Ohio

There definitely is still some confusion about what you can and can't do.

Any idea why some of the other non starters on the team, like Ryan Michaels and Dan Mancini, didnt wrestle on Sunday? Injured?
