Ron Cook just put his "Tom Bradley for DC at Pitt" signs up in his front yard, and will be pimping him all week long.
Pitt will go cheap, bet your life! Whatever cost them the least , that's who will get hired

A name to watch out for Ohio State Linebackers Coach Billy Davis. From Youngstown Ohio spent 20 years in the NFL probably has crossed paths with Narduzzi in the past.
This will be interesting to follow. Teryl Austin could be the Lions next head coach, scratch him off. Marvin Lewis may actually not be losing his job, that's a no for him too. There's a handful of solid coaches though that legitimately may be looked at and interested.
I was thinking though, if it's Shaffer is there any chance partridge still gets promoted and we have co-defensive coordinators? I would kind of like that but idk how realistic that is especially amongst other things that narduzzi probably wouldn't want to have two other guys collaborating to run his defense.

Conklin's performance including recruiting and optics aren't good for Pitt football.
I can't imagine him impressing a big tough HS DT or LB.
He look's like he should be renting bicycles at a beach somewhere in scandals, an old bathing suit with his surf board ready to go?
On the serious side, not for this opening, but another maybe Greg Knox Mississippi St would be a great choice for Pitt. He's been in coaching for 20 years mostly in the SEC and has only worked for I think two HC's.
He would be a great recruiter since his background is SEC country!

It's going to be someone PN has close connections to or partridge. The d is PN anyhow so no proven DC is going to want to come in and run PN d.
As I had posted in a separate thread, if you want Florida recruiting in-roads through a former Pitt (and NFL) player for the 10th coach slot, then Phil Clarke has to be on the radar.

3 years is the norm for coordinators. Most of the guys in the system now know Narduzzi's philosophy and style. There won't be much change.
Opportunity for an upgrade. Let's see who Narduzzi can get.

Why?? He coaches at Penn Hills, and he was a huge recruiter as a player for us. I know him personally, he is a high energy guy as there is.
Why on earth are you against him joining the staff in some capacity??

He would be a great pick with that solid pro experience and having recruited in this region. But I assume he can get a better job than Pitt DC. He also philosophically has been a pro 3-4 zone blitz cover 3 sort of guy, for whatever little that is worth.
Is Schaffer considered a good recruiter? Who are some of the big names he pulled? All I know is he is buddies with Narduzzi and used to be a HC ar Syracuse.

Idk how most of you would feel about Wanny coming back as the DC. I personally would love it! Too bad it will never happen.

Dave couldn't handle Big East offenses from 10 years ago. What makes you or anybody else think he could figure out ACC offenses of today?
His DC’s Paul Rhodes and Phil Bennet couldn’t handle the BE offenses. If not DC he should be here in some aspect.

Wanny would make a good DC at Pitt but it will never happen. He was a good coordinator and a good recruiter.
He's spent the last 5 years analyzing and covering football. I'm sure he's learned plenty about how college offenses play now.
His defenses gave up 22, 23, 24, 21, 20 and 19 points per game. Hardly terrible.

Agreed Gunja...wanny will not be on our sidelines....he would be a great ambassador for the university though. I just hope Pitt actually uses this opportunity to build and not shot themselves in the foot as usual l.
