COST PROJECTIONS FOR NEW PITT STADIUM

Awesome work, thanks for sharing this.

On a side note, can you let me know what projects your friend, the civil engineer, has worked on. I'd like to avoid them at all costs. Gracias.
Just pissing on people's parades as usual because of your Nerdy connection.

LOL. You're relentless, I'll give you that.

Personally I get a huge kick out of him. His harmless threads serve as a great litmus test for identifying kooks lacking self awareness and mental stability.

He's not preaching jihad or asking when your daughter is legal. He's just trying to build momentum for a football stadium. Yet somehow that's enough to send a lot of people into blind fits of internet rage.

Hysterical.

Unintentional humor is always the best.

Haha…..so ground floor or no floor!

Continue with what? That's it. Me and Z freakin livin the dream in Oakland, getting weird at peters after the win.. That's as good as it gets and this will happen.. If 99% of all D1 programs can have their own stadium, pitt can too. We are not that unique to the rest of the world. The question is, does Z allow you to join in after all of your negativity, i'll see if I can talk him into it but as of now, it's not looking too good for you guys..

Oh Del, you are like my shadow. I'm flattered by all of the attention you pay to me, but sorry…I'm married.

I bet if a man of your intellect sits down and focuses real hard, you will come up with a new line soon. I have faith in you.

You have obviously never created anything professionally in the field of architecture nor urban planning. Infact, perhaps you might start with crayolas. Because of this incompetence, please don't wonder why your remarks are not ever taken seriously on this matter. Please post any professional work that you have done in either field. Then we may get a better understanding of your professional background.

Well.. that isnt true. I have architect students mock up very detailed new factory plans that look amazing. With the software out there, this can be done very professionally, very quickly, and still be a pull from ass type design.

That fantastic although one nitpick...surely you could take out the block by the Blvd of Allies, Craft and Ophelia st, for even more premium tailgating......

Good point.... maybe we should move the Family-friendly parking lot even further from the stadium, too?

I think QuitCallingMeWanny just became my new lead consultant for our design firm.

nothing screams family-friendly than tailgating in the Manchester and perry south neighborhoods.. the thought of my small children playing in this neighborhood while I drink beer in this neighborhood makes me want to donate to this cause...

Really?... my idea of putting it in the middle of the highway system and running a bridge over the stadium is brilliant!
We could plan for parking on the field and build an on ramp to the highway which will solve the problem of fans leaving early to beat traffic.

Im just excited for the Wanny Statue. I envision it like the Statue of Liberty welcoming all the cold, the poor, the tired Pitt fans to a sparkling new stadium.
The Wanny statue should be at the front door of the Primanti's.

Hey that looks like the families RoadMaster.
You've never seen a car until you see and ride Iin a RoadMaster.

my only affinity to you is the same as that of that of the guy to the rock in his shoe which makes walking painful.

I'm going to have to update the stadium drawings with all of the genius ideas that are rolling in from this board! These are gold.

I just noticed the "Floating Tailgating" section. The brilliance of this plan just continues to grow. Now my question to the firm that designed this…

Is the Floating Tailgating section semi-permanently moored there like Donzi's used to be? Or will it be harbored elsewhere and tugged up river on game day?

You are clearly mistaking hysterical laughter for blind fits of rage. Everyone with a brain laughs at this guy, they don't get angry with him.

Go to www.newpittstadium.com In the plan, parking and people movement are covered on pages 20 to 25. Parking is the suburbanites neurosis that people in urban centers laugh at.
I looked at the plan, and it looks decent on paper. Real life is different. I lived in Bloomfield while attending PITT and had quite a few parking tickets because parking was terrible then. So I was one urbanite who did not laugh at lack of parking. I would walk to the games because of the parking problems.

I am now a suburbanite who does not want to park a mile from the stadium (an Oakland mile is x 3 due to the terrain) and walk. Shuttles are nice, but Pittsburgh jay walkers would turn a 1 mile trip into a 45 minute trip.

The majority of the fans in my section are in their 50's and up, if they can't park close they ain't goin.

So if they do build it and can't fill it we can blame it on the parking. PITT fans are always looking for reasons they do not attend.

The funny thing about the stadium debates is there seems to be a large amount of Pitt fans who actually hate the idea of an on-campus stadium. I'm guessing most of these people are 70+ because they usually cite traffic and parking concerns (must get home to the couch ASAP). They also seemed extremely concerned with land procurement and how one of the richest universities in the world spends their money. Honestly, who gives an eff if Pitt decides $400 million for a stadium is more important than some academic endeavors? Its not my money. I can enjoy a Saturday afternoon on campus watching a football game with my family. I cant take my family to a lecture hall to listen to some hotshot professor Pitt hires away from Harvard.

As for the cost projections. Its $300 million for a first-class stadium and $100 for land acquisition. I dont want a $100 million erector set like UCF.

Wait a minute…what??? It's an accredited University. It goes without saying that the priority of the institution is to academic endeavors and not a football stadium. Hell, I didn't go to Pitt and my only connection to the school is the four figure check I stroke to the athletic department each year…and even I appreciate those priorities. You really can't be that jaded nor that dense. That was a joke right?

EDIT: And, I wouldn't be so quick to belittle the 70+ crowd. It seems to my naked eye that the 18-22 year old students are the first ones out the door on game day.

It would then seem that no one wants to fight traffic. Put the stadium in Oakland, those who drove do not want to drive/sit in traffic. Play at Heinz Field, the students leave early to beat/sit in the traffic.

*Why does everything in Pittsburgh always seem to come down to traffic? Is doing anything in Pittsburgh seven steps away from traffic?*:po_O

This may just call for...

The unrelenting presentation of facts and evidence always lays waste to the rudeness and stupidity of the ignorant without ever having to acknowledge them.
Do you know that the final cost for the Pete was over $100,000,000 (and that was years ago)
You really should cut back on alcohol and drugs.

There is no debate.
There are some people fantasizing about a hypothetical.

We all know your position on your money. You keep taking cheap shots at us older folks. Little family discord irritating you??
Pitt is a University. Go root for some soccer team at station square. Pitt won't break the laws to build a stadium so you can use Stubhub for an on-campus FB game.

as much as I hate to side with the naysayers, this stadium talk is more fantasizing based on hypotheticals (to steal Souf's description) moreso than a debate.. I want a stadium more than anyone but until we get some high ranking people to show support, it's nothing more than fantasies..

Still does piss me off when old and lazy people complain about parking. GET OFF YOUR F*CKING LAZY ASS AND WALK YOU OLD BUZZARDS.. The "down in front" crowd needs to die off in this area..

See that is where you are wrong NTOP, JoseLind13's new on campus stadium will ban StubHub from the project....Tix will be through the University only

You still have not answered the question about getting into Oakland. It's not about the parking and walking hell , I (and I am one of the old buzzards) park at PPG lot when going to Heinz field. It's how do I get to parking lots( where ever someone dreams up they will be). Ever try to get into Oakland for a BB game on a weeknight via 5th. There is more traffic coming into that area than when Pitt Stadium was around. Are you going to tell the ambulance drivers on game day to just suck it up and sit in traffic? What about the families needing to get to the hospitals. I get it that some think they can figure out the land for the stadium and maybe even the parking. But you have to address the infrastructure both the money part and new/changed roads. It's a package deal . Which adds a ton more politics to the debate
