Don't be surprised...

A couple of weeks ago in the attached thread you didn't seem to want to play this series. Did something change?

https://pittsburgh.forums.rivals.com/threads/drop-ups-game.91079/page-2

And what does my desire to not play the game have to do with your school bailing on the remaining series? Bailing on the series screws Pitt and forces them to scramble to find OOC opponents for the next three seasons at the last minute. Goddam, you people are more twisted than a bag of pretzels.

I'll give it a try. You not wanting to play the game is a fact. In fact, there are four pages in the Drop UPS game thread and almost everyone, with a few exceptions, wanted the game and series canceled. Now you developed a hypothetical situation in which Penn State is the reason the series may get canceled. Nice, first you don't want the games and now you've figured out a way to blame it on someone else. Do you now see how the two are connected?

I like how PSU fans think this is a "big game". Attendance is up because its the first time the two in-state schools have played in over a decade and have almost played 100 games historically, but you cant label a game as "big" when both teams are very average, neither are ranked, PSU is likely to only be a 7 win team even with a weak schedule, etc. Next weeks game versus ranked Oklahoma State is a big game IMO.

In terms of the Sandusky/PennState child sex abuse scandal, its really brought up more based on the complete denials of Penn State fans. There are people on BWI genuinely rooting on Jerry Sandusky to be found not guilty, berating alumni/students who dont agree with the PS4Rs narrative, targeting victims of the abuse, and willing to believe every conspiracy theory out there. Had they owned up to it, this wouldnt even be an issue today. It also goes to the greater PSU fan base arrogance thinking they are an elite program, when merely you are a regional program with an extremely large student/alumni base (given the branch campus system) and the fact that there is nothing in the Alabama-section of Pennsylvania in terms of professional sports team to draw locals. Pitt fans know we are an average program with decent history and that we definitely self-sanctioned ourselves in the 80s under the Chancellor at the time who chose to deemphasize what the football program was in the 70s/80s. Even the recent coaching changes by our fired athletic director resulted in far worse "sanctions" than what PSU received in covering up child molestation on and off campus by a coach that was widely known issue around campus. Again, that issue like most when people own up to their issues pretty much floats away even though it still happened. While Pitt fans (and most human beings) are disgusted by any story of child abuse or people not going to every extent possible to prevent it when it knowingly is occurring, most of the comments by a lot of Pitt fans are towards the denial culture of any wrong doing...whether it being the Sandusky/PSU child sex scandal, racism on campus, issues with treatment of visiting fans, etc. According to Penn State fans, none of these things happen and they are a shining star that everyone is jealous of which is why the nation dislikes them. Its pretty comical viewpoint, given actually publications to the contrary on everyone of those points. At this point, the Sandusky molestation and cover-up has pretty much past for me outside of denial (which appears to be the only reason the sports and regional media even brings it up as well). For me, the racism issues are far more of an issue that very much exist among PSU fans/alumni and present in State College.

I've said it before multiple times. Hopefully this series is not renewed and mostly for the reason of the PSU culture. If you look among college football when there are two P5 teams in the same state, the two play (regardless of conference or non-conference)....so I get why some people want to see the game or at least one rational for it to be played. To be truthful, neither team has a true rival at this time. For me, I want to see Pitt play more national opponents within the P5 rankings, with variety in the scheduling, and as someone who travels to away games more interesting locations. No offense (and I know its cliche saying that), but there is really nothing to do in State College and Beaver Stadium is a large dump of a stadium. For me ideally if there is a series between the programs, play a four game series every 12/16/20 years. Same with WVU. If the ACC goes to 9 conference games and only 3 OOC opponents, it becomes even more difficult. Like this year if we were not playing ranked Oklahoma State next week coupled with a Marshall team that won 10 games last year (but will probably be down this year), the OOC schedule would have sucked with just a mediocre/average PSU team. Im sure its the same with PSU OOC schedule given playing bad non-P5 programs like Kent State and Temple and then only an average Pitt team headlining the slate. I certainly wouldnt be happy with that every year. I know PSU fans seem to value any W and having a home game over if the opponent is actually average or better, so maybe that isnt the case. Just know thats how I would view it if you consider Pitt's OOC schedule if we didnt have a big match up with ranked Oklahoma State next week.

The utter nonsense is ridiculous. 99% + will be at the game, tailgating and having a great time. The only ones that will cause problems are a few drunk morons on both sides. In the end, Pennsylvania's stick together. If something happens, better heads will prevail on both sides.

You guys should be so much better at hypotheticals than this, considering all of your acrobatics involving Paterno have been involved in them ("Hypothetically, what if these people who testified all lied?")

Pennsylvania's WHAT stick together?

WHAT? You don't understand what that means? It means we're far more alike than not. Pennsylvania is the original melting pot of America.

Study some history, especially Pennsylvania history. Better yet, take a trip out of PA and see other Pennsylvania's. You'll actually recognize how much we have in common. They actually write books about it. Of course you would know better. Here's a great source for you. Religion in America by John Corrigan, my professor at ASU. Big section on PA. Yes, we do have a lot in common.

Bro, study some English. You said "Pennsylvania's" which I bolded for your reference. "Pennsylvania's" would be indicative of something that Pennsylvania possesses. Which doesn't make sense, in the context of your post. I was trying to help you out with bolding it for you.

However, you chose to double down on your arrogance by not opening your eyes to see your mistake. (shocking!)

Enough of the reciting of academic credentials. Nobody here cares. And for the record, I've travelled all over the world on both pleasure and business. Anytime you want to compare Passports, let me know. And then after I'm finished schooling you on what it is to be worldly, you can add that to your laundry list of irrelevant academic achievements.

Hope not, that would be a tragic lost for them and the Commonwealth in Money and Public Relations Images!

Treat people like you want to be treated!

So sorry spellchecker left out an n. My points stand. We're far more alike than different. But but all means, keep the insults coming. And as you point out, education isn't important. I actually cited historical record, you just try insults. Good job.

Actually no, football is not my life nor is it a priority in my life, it is entertainment. I am a Pittsburgh sports fan and I have seen Pitt, the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates all win titles. In fact if you do the math I have seen one of my teams win a title an average of one in every four years of my life. Honestly, I have seen enough that I don't care if I ever see any one of them win a title again. I feel the same if they win a title or finish dead last.

The older I get the less I like pro sports, and since I don't coach football anymore I go to a lot of high school and college games because I have a lot of kids I coached playing.

If Pitt loses tomorrow, I won't be upset that they lost. It won't affect me at all because I will still have a job, a family and life will still go on. It may bother me to see idiots like you who have made PoSU football your identity and priority in your life acting like they are the greatest because you will never get what is really important. Children being sexually abused, not important to you. Child well-being, not important to you. Girls being used by your head coach to help recruit players and raped by his players, not important to you. Penn State football, the number one priority in life. You make me sick just thinking about your screwed up priorities.

It is not "someone', it is "everyone". You guys really don't care about the game, I am guessing because of history of losing big games, so this is a convenient way to insulate yourselves from the inevitable. Am I right?

You are insulted that I pointed out your error? Or are you insulted that I used a well known quote from a well known movie after you doubled down on your error?

Quite frankly I'm insulted that a man of your academic background would make such an amateurish mistake. Especially someone entrusted as a moderator on a Rivals message board.

But, thanks for the sociology lesson. I will be sure to add it to my resume.

I'm on a phone. A letter is now the end of the world, and the focal point more so than the topic. The topic being violence started by drunken fools.

You can realize covering up child rape is wrong without being a lunatic you know.

For reference see: everywhere outside of central PA
How do you equate a cover-up with reporting the 2001 incident to The Second Mile and no one in the information chain ever was asked to keep things quiet. The only evidence out there is the e-mails published in the Freeh report and not one of them mentioned anything resembling a cover-up. C/S/S made what they thought was the proper decision at the time, although, in the end, it came back to bite Penn State big-time.

I find that statement curious. Because the older I get, the less I like college sports because there is nothing, NOTHING more hypocritical in all of sports. Nothing is close. Nothing. Pro Sports at its worst is more honest than college football at this level.

I just watch for the entertainment you can see on the screen when watching on TV, or to get drunk at the tailgate party, all for my own entertainment, I don't care what happens behind the scenes.

Well, I've grown weary of having a conversation with you. To ignore you go.

But we have no history of child rape and covering up child rape to protect our precious football games.

How many times on television in slow motion replay did we watch the Pitt basketball coach being hit in the face with a coin?

Don't forget, the coin incident happened after the game had to be stopped because of (mostly) the students throwing all kinds of garbage on the court. And then it had to be stopped again because the students threw more stuff on the court. And then Bob Huggins took the microphone and asked people to stop throwing stuff on the court and to point out to security anyone who did so. And then it had to be stopped again because the Hoopie fans wouldn't even listen to their own coach and stop throwing stuff.

And oh, yeah, that was in a game that the Hoopies won. Imagine what that night would have been like had the Hoopies lost the game.

So much for making sense.

"Pennsylvanians stick together..." What in the sam heck are you talking about? These are just whacky words.

I lose my "common ground" with someone when they fail to recognize the difference between right and wrong on such a massive scale.

A large portion of Penn State fans whether they be Pennsylvanians, Floridians or Ruskies for that matter; prefer their football over these victims.

We will play at least 4 teams better than psu (Okie St, Clemson, UNC and Miami), but no win would be mote satisfying to me personally. But as others have mentioned its just a game, and there are plenty of things more important in life win or lose.

Why do you have to put someone on ignore? Why not just ignore them?

Genius in practice.
Two reasons. I like to scan a thread and don't want to have to read the drivel...it really cleans up an otherwise good thread and they know I really don't appreciate the tactic they were taking with me.

I've also become ambivalent about college and pro sports, especially pro sports. This game tomorrow is just a means of entertainment for me. If Pitt wins, great. But I'll probably forget about it maybe 15 minutes after the end of the game, that's how important it is to me. What's more important to me is that there are people in this state who believe what these cultist nitters believe. That's dangerous and sad all at once. It causes me to be very concerned for my safety tomorrow with these perverts in the stands. Is it worth even going to this stupid game with that garbage around?

So much for making sense.

"Pennsylvanians stick together..." What in the sam heck are you talking about? These are just whacky words.

Yeah.....I stick together with Flyer fans. If the Taliban were playing the Flyers, I would root for them. In fact, there are really only 2 sports teams I avidly hate and root against. Both are Pennsylvania teams. The Flyers are one of them, can you guess who the other is?

You are a child. And a very immature child at that.

I feel the same as you. I hope the Flyers lose every game forever along with those confused nitters.

Let me see if I've got this correct. I get attacked and called all kinds of vile names and when I refuse to discuss anything with that person again I'm the immature one? I come to these boards for both information and fun. I don't hang with people that clearly like me. You'll notice that as long as the vile comments aren't directed at me personally I just don't reply in anyway. Everyone directs a vile comment toward me however gets put ignore.

Now, it's late and your Mommy is probably looking to tuck you in so come upstairs and say good night.

Easy on the drama.

Good job ending your tirade with exactly what you whine about everyone else doing to you.

I now get it...you have reading comprehension issues. It's not "everyone" nor did I ever imply it was everyone. Further, I limit my ignore control to specifically VILE comments directed toward me. Had you actually been capable of comprehending my posts you would have known this...Posters are more than welcome to throw the soft stuff and I'll reply in kind however direct vile toward me and you're gone. Now, hurry up and brush your teeth.

No one said anything vile to you.

What are you talking about brushing my teeth? Why come here and embarrass yourself? That is what I cannot comprehend.
