I enjoy watching these guys play as a team. We have not seen this in years.
Happy to have a lead like this at half in any game. But particularly in that building. The game has been odd in that we seem incredibly sloppy and not rebounding well and some questionable shots … yet here we are. Keep it up…I guess? But circling back to my first line, it’s just great to see the good guys not dead and buried in a game like this, let alone winning, so I’m over the moon regardless of petty gripes.
They have 13 offensive rebounds on 23 misses. That is just awful on your defensive glass.
These games are officiated so softly. And then it seems like the refs are in this constant seesaw balancing cycle: "Well we gave this team this feather soft call, so now this team gets this one," etc.
Their freshmen are good but not the typical high impact one and does. So I do agree. If not for them getting offensive rebound putbacks and foul shots from rebound battles we would be up 20 at half. We just need to take care of the ball and not go cold in the 2nd half and we walk out of Cameron indoor with a W.
And I think they've all come on their 2 point shots. They may be getting 100% of their 2 point misses.
And they've probably drawn a foul on us jockeying for positioning on a few of the ten they didn't get.
I have further downgraded Nate Santos's range down to only layups or dunks. Other than shooting he has played reasonably well. The dish to diaz-graham was sweet.
How many times in the last five years have we heard announcers say this is a good Pitt basketball team? It’s nice to hear!
For the record, if Pitt fouls someone while going for a defensive rebound that counts as an offensive rebound for Duke.
Duke had 23 misses. They rebounded 13 of them and we rebounded 10 of them.
"Land" free throws?
At the half Pitt was 6-8 from the line and Duke was 7-9. Those are both above average.
The amount of 16ish-19ish foot shots we shoot kind of amazes me. I mean it's great when they go in, but they have to be about the least efficient shots on the floor, one would think.
I hate Nike Sibande. Can't stand watching the dude play basketball. Is he ever not completely out of control?
For the last 50 years the average free throw percentage in college basketball is in the neighborhood of 70%. And I can't imagine that it was any higher than that in the 50s or 60s.
Yes, we need to get back to what we did the first half. And then we created more turnovers too.
Are we playing organized basketball or making an And-1 video? Jesus, it's just 4 guys watching someone do a bunch of pointless dribbling every time.
