That's a convenient way to blame the fans for the universities failures.
Or, it's reality.

That's a matter of opinion, nobody has all the facts. And if me not going to every game, every week, every year, and me not donating say $100 is the difference between winning and losing, then so be it. I don't believe that's the reason, but you believe what you want.Or, it's reality.

You people take this too seriously. I make money and actually donate a lot to charity. I go to games, Pitt is important to me, as I've said, I watch every football game every year at least twice! I spend some on Pitt athletics, I buy tickets and gear, but I'm NOT OBLIGATED TO SPEND A DIME, and there are no "RULES FOR FANDOM" that say "To be a fan you MUST...."
Pitt is important to me, but mqany other things are EQUALLY IMPORTANT and often times TRUMP PITT, but what a huge fan I am, I STILL manage to see every game, I have every victory since around 2004 on DVD if I was able to record it from TV, sometimes off season I might watch one...Every time I see a Classic Pitt game from the '70s '80s on ESPN, a make a DVD of those too. If I'm not a true, die hard fan I don't know what that term can possibly mean.
I don't have that one. I have '79, ESPN Classic plays that one every once in awhile. Lot's of great games they never replay, like when TD went for 300 vs. ND?I don't suppose you, or anyone else out there, have the 1976 Pitt vs Penn State game. I have games on DVD from the 70's on, but I could never find that one game, a game I would really like to see again.
Why is the playing surface terrible?? It's natural grass and it gets replaced half way through the season, stays green all year.
You know they have to paint it every November, right?
I never understood why they don't just get field turf?
So what? There are many, many, many stadiums where the players DON'T GET THEIR WAY and they have to play on FIELD TURF.Because the players overwhelmingly want to play on grass...

So what?? The players are the ones playing on it, if they want to play on grass then let them.
No, they clearly don't decide in most venues. Only in Yinzerland do you seem to hear that players should decide what the surface will be.
Let's get field turf becuase it looks nicer for the fans?? Lol no it dosent.

I have both 75 and 76 Notre Dame. I have 79, 80, 84, 87, & 88 Pitt/PSU as well. That 76 game seems to be my holy grail!
They replace it..
No, because it's consistent, it won't be torn up in late November when they have 10 games on it in two weeks, less maintenance, etc.
My personal favorite, that I've probably watched 10 times or more is the "Tyler Palko fckng" ND game in 2004... that was one hell of a game.
Some would say you aren't a good fan, because you aren't willing to make that drive for EVERY GAME, some would say people like you, who aren't dedicated enough are the reason we can't become a big time program. Not me, some of the other posters.[/QUOT
Anybody can make all the grandiose claims in the world they want from the safety and anonymity of a computer keyboard. Unless you personally know that wind bag poster who is bragging about how much he or she donates or how many season tickets they buy, nobody will ever really know.
Meh. Alabama has a lot, lot more fans, but still, the majority of their traveling fans are 1-3 hours away and 90% within 5 hours. That is a hell of a lot different than 10-14 hours or flights in. I have friends who are very big fans and have plenty of money (one of them is both AND his Dad is a BoT member, so he has tickets in the President's box whenever he wants) and they still only get to 1-2 regular season games a year, unless it coincides with a trip for another reason. I go to most Alabama home games, 1-2 Pitt games, and then bowl games, but even just the 3 hours each way for a game is a lot for a hot, scrub scrimmage game. In fact, a funny thing about the Alabama scrub games is that it really is only good for people watching because that is the game the season ticket holders sell off or giveaway their seats. There are so many redneck gumps that find their way to the good seats just because you can get a ticket, which is normally 3-10 times more, for face.Once again, if you posed this scenario on the BWI or Alabama boards, you would be the one called crazy for not taking the trip.
And people wonder why we get the Birmingham bowl. Fans don't even want to travel to home games let alone bowls
I watched that the other day. Totally forgot how good that game was.
Erik Gill. Game of his life.I watched that the other day. Totally forgot how good that game was.
