GAME THREAD - Pitt vs Miami

I'd say start Sterling, let him take some shots and see if he can provide a spark. But Damon Wilson needs to be getting most of the minutes at the 2. He's gonna be a star in a couple years.

We played a really good game against the #12 team in the country on the road ..... the key is to build on this game and improve.

Sometimes the bounces just don't go your way, fellas. How many 3s rimmed out tonight? How many times did Miami save the ball while diving 5 feet out of bounds and recover it? That 5 second sequence at the end of the 1st half was killer. Artis and Young had C-level games tonight and we were still right there at number 12. Let's continue to handle UNC on Sunday!

Sucks we didn't close and steal that win...
But at least it wasn't the spirit crushing defeat which has been too common.

Yeah, it would have been great to win .... tough loss.

However, Jamie will have a lot of teaching points to make from going over the film of this game with the team ..... let's see if it carries over to the UNC game.

Tough loss tonight. Good effort by the subs who kept Pitt in the game. Not such a good effort by the starters. The last play clearly shoes the defensive weakness and poor coaching/effort?? of this team. First, Chris Jones fails to rotate to the corner to cover the 3 points shooter even after JRob pointed to him to cover the corner . This causes Ryan Luther to have to leave the basket to try to cover the shooter and not be in position for the rebound after the first tip. Second, Jamel doesn't box out Davon Reed who gets the first tip and with great 2nd effort keeps JRob from getting the rebound. Finally, Mike Young fails to box out and hardly jumps for the rebound on the game winning tip. Also, what was that last play? James is supposed to get the ball on the run, but either he cut too soon or Ryan was late getting him the ball. He had to stop and turn around to catch the ball with his back to the basket. Then our 3 point shooters were in the far corners of the court with no chance to get the ball. Only Mike Young was between half court and the foul line.
