Honest question

All I know is Pitt Coach Pat Narduzzi is looking forward to this game as much as when MSU looked forward to playing against Michigan.

Penn State Coach Franklin has been silent on it, unlike Coach O'Brien that said it should be played every year.

A.D. Barbour is outright not a proponent of it either, and just wants to keep her job, and is afraid of her own Fan base.

Pitt is not afraid to play anyone at any time and glad to see Pitt is playing West Virginia too, now that Pederson is gone. If Penn State refuses to play Pitt after 2019, then Pitt should just play WVU every year.

If not then perhaps 2 on and 2 off between the two Program.

I think most Fans of both Programs are looking forward towards playing again, and both fear losing that game, but fear seldom wins any thing?

I'll take ND, WVU, PSU every year as OOC, but others differ, and so be it.

Ohh man, Lionrevival.. You are at it again, aren't you? Just so you guys know, Lionrevival and Pantherrevival are the same people. One was created to troll our fan base and the other was created to troll your fanbase. Don't who this guy thinks he is fooling but he is obviously a pretty bored individual.

Anywho, honestly, I think this game is yours to lose. We have a new OC, new OLCoach.. tho so do you guys. Since this game is so early in the season for both of us, it wont be pretty at all. But you guys still have the edge on experience in the positions that really matter: QB & OL. And on top of that, our DL is going to be young and untested. But our WR's and TB's will be really good. So lets see how it works out. Hoping we win! But besta luck to you guys and hope for an amazing game and atmosphere! Best of luck on the season!

Cheers!

I don't know who will win this game but recruiting in state players will be affected. Penn State recruiting was several notches ahead of Pitt but Pitt gain a lot of ground this year. Pitt might overtake Penn State in recruiting in state recruits.

Again, we have five times as many players at the combine than Pitt. Lack of talent cannot be used anymore. My psu peers that claim we are losing based on talent are entirely disingenuous in their claim.

James has already stocked a warehouse full of excuses for why winning big is not happening. He is backtracking. It is obvious that Franklin has lost his confidence.
Could have stockpiled those excuses from TD_nitter
One should not be surprised that sanctions will be the main reason given should State College lose that game.....
But a hell storm will come down on Big Mouth

Why? He is telling the truth. People don't have to be ridiculous homers of the schools they love.

A simple IP check by any of the mods on either site can verify that this poster is full of crap.

I am willing to meet any poster in person too.

Why not?

My offer stands that anyone wants to meet in person and verify my fanhood then I will do so.

Beer is on me but if you get out of line I will slap the hell out of you. Kidding

Talking Football Content for the game is hard to do until we see Depth Charts after Spring Ball and Summer Preseason Camp. Especially since the game is so early with a few unknowns?

Tough to do an full analysis right now.

Pitt:
How New OC Canada adjust with QB Peterman?
Does Pitt produce the Wideouts to replace Boyd?
Does James Conner Start?
What Players start at LB's & DB's?
What Freshmen Start?
Of Course Key Injuries?

Penn State:
Penn State has to choose a New QB with a New OC?
Can New OL Coach Limegrover improve OL?
Does Sanders join Barkley?
Can New DC, DB, & LB Coaches have Defense Ready?
Special Teams Improved?
What Freshmen start?
Key Injuries?

Early Synopsis:
1. PSU Speedy WR's vs. PITT New DB's Execution?
2. PSU OL's versus PITT DL's Execution?
3. Can PITT LB's stop PSU RB's?
4. Can PITT DC Confuse PSU New QB?
5. PSU Higher Recruiting Talent?
6. PITT Better Game Plans & Half-Time Coaching?
7. Toss Up Rival Game Anyway?

Pretty much this.

Good analysis.

The pressure is off Pitt to win. Pitt coaches did not come in and make grandiose claims. Narduzzi is absolutely loved by the Pitt fanbase, whereas time is running short on Franklin and I am the first to point out his BS.

I cannot fully agree nor say otherwise. I do know many Posters on the Lair posted Franklin record at Vanderbilt was not as good as many knew, once a full analysis was pointed out by some of the best Posters on the Lair.

I was not one of them but now can see what they were saying has not been wrong so far?

There are other Lair Posters that posted Franklin needs his 3 to 4 years to recover from sanctions and they may be right, but I no longer think he has that time anymore unless he wins in 2016 and gets an Extension?

I was one of the first that called for Paterno to retire, but no one listened, and although Penn State is still a Top 10-15 Program in Revenues and Resources, that cannot be said in Winning in the Big Ten? This includes not just the last 5 years, but the Penn State Big Ten demise started in 1997 and under Paterno?

It is still not Winning in Top 10-15 even under Paterno 1993-2011 since joining the Big Ten at 17th, 56th since 2012-15 without Paterno, 62nd under Franklin, and 18th since 1993 since joining the Big Ten?

Penn State had a great first 4 Years in the Big Ten, but it was grind down slowly but surely after 1996. If one removes those first 4 years, Penn State Paterno drops his Top 5 Program at one time in Resources & Revenues to 25th? All the while Michigan and Ohio State were winning NCS once they found replacements for Bo and Woody?

It also led to Paterno having to play players that were suspended by the University and with many criminal arrests and backgrounds while not following all the Rules?

This had nothing to do with the Sandusky Scandal, but was exposed from it, and why the cover ups happen as well.

Now the Penn State Program built under Paterno is behind Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Northwestern, and Nebraska?

It was not just the Penn State Scandal that brought down Penn State Program in Wins, it was Joe Paterno staying too long wanting his 409 Wins, even if it killed him, and it did, along with his Legacy!

It takes years to find replacements for Great Coaches, happen at USC, Texas, BAMA, Michigan, MIAMI, Ohio State, OU, and many still doing it and Penn State is no exception, but shows sometimes winning came with not following all the Rules and led to Sanctions, just like some other Programs that brought back big winning but got hit with more sanctions doing it?

As long as Penn State is divided at the Top of the University, it cannot be united behind the College Football Program.

Pitt had this problem after Jackie Sherrill and during Steve Pederson's second tenure as A.D.

This does not mean in anyway that Joe Paterno was not a Great Football Coach, I admire his coaching. It just means sometimes one needs to know when to go and let someone else take over after seeing a slow demise of bad decisions and less winning.

Bo knew when to go, OSU knew when to cut Woody, Bear knew he was dying, Pederson no longer was a Top A.D., and Beamer finally saw the light of no longer winning in the Top 25. Paterno's ego was bigger than all of them, and it hurt him more than any scandal, and the lawsuit can't change it, just extend and expose it.

Some Penn State Fans always bought the slogan they were the "Grand Experiment", but most Experiments fail in science and reality, especially when it was a self-created slogan with no basis in fact?

Our season wouldn't be over because of a loss to Penn State in it's own sense. The season might be over at that point though because after PSU the schedule becomes brutally harder. With 'Nova being the easiest game, PSU and UVA are clearly the next two in line. Pitt would be considered a very good team, and probably ranked, if they are 8-4 again this season.

It is all for naught. A rise in football presence is great but the request for these rewards are extremely short sighted. In light of the concussion issues, the breakdown of the human body, I doubt American football is in it for the long haul. The sport will eventually die.

Parents nowadays would have to be ignorant of the facts or just don't care if they're encouraging their children to play football. This is not because the parents are soft but rather because the long term issues are substantial. if a person wants to prove how tough they are then wrestle.

I suspect the football injury problems are largely fixable - but the helmets and shoulder pads needed to do it won't be pretty...

Everything I read is Pitt will win easy against PSU next year, but after that it will be a real struggle. I think most PSU fans agree...Pitt has a real shot to win next year. My question for all Pitt fans is what if PSU wins...is your season over? I hope PSU wins but I expect Pitt will have a chance at the end.

PSU will need a couple touchdowns from defense/special teams to win. Pitt's edge along the lines is too big and Franklin isn't good enough to compensate for it. He'll have to rely on luck.
Pitt fans will be relentless about shoving a win in your PSU faces, and rightly so, but it won't be the end of Pitt's season by any means. We're well aware PSU hasn't been a major power for a while and it would take way more talent than they have to make up for ineptitude from their coaching staff.

Pitt has to win this game. They should be able to confuse the hell out of a new qb. He's going to be in over his head. Conversely the game at Psu will be tough for pitt due to similar circumstance.

Of course not. Can you show reports that pitt should win? I'd be surprised if psu isn't favored by Vegas, at any rate it will end very even.

Sounds like a very weird question on every level. Completely not true
