In last night's WPIAL 6A championship Central Catholic played North Allegheny. As this article correctly notes, Central came out playing man coverage, and NA had a lot of success passing against it - going 10 for 15 and scoring TDs on all three of their opening drives, including TD throws of 65 and 19 yards. NA was leading 21-10 at that point. So, Central made an adjustment and switched to a two-deep zone. After that switch, NA completed just 3 of 11 passes and Central's defense gave up only 27 yards from scrimmage after halftime. Central went on to outscore NA 28-3 from that point and take the game and the championship.
