I care about winning championshipsYes, winning in the playoffs is better than not winning in the playoffs. Tomlin's entire philosophy right now won't cut it to make a deep run in the playoffs anymore. He coaches scared.
“For us, it’s about playing to a personality that we prescribe to engineer victory, to possess the ball,” Tomlin said. “And a component of possessing the ball is not only time, but managing risk. And obviously, there’s less risk with running the football than throwing it, and sometimes that’s a component of this discussion as well.”
He basically just told us he'd rather lean on a running game that is not working than throw the ball to reduce the risk of turnovers. Good enough to squeak into the playoffs, not good enough to win in the playoffs.
Other than that - who really cares ?
