Which is completely untrue. Don’t confuse local media with national media
It's you who has them confused. The local media has questioned him quite a bit; the national media is in love with him.
Which is completely untrue. Don’t confuse local media with national media
They have been advocating the Steelers “trade” Tomlin to another team since the 2023 season. I have read so much anti Tomlin bs the last month it’s ridiculousIt's you who has them confused. The local media has questioned him quite a bit; the national media is in love with him.
Remember again......most of those guys who were let walk Dan Rooney was in charge. Art II seems to operate their offices with a Friends and Family slant.Yeah, 100%. Tomlin holds on to old dudes like he's afraid to break up with them. Pouncey is a good recent example. He was allowed to stay several years beyond his ability to anchor that OL.
They openly criticized Marvin Lewis for similar results.Agenda of the national media? They have been kissing Tomlin's ass for 17 years. They hold him on a pedestal like no other, while coaches with very similar resumes (Mike McCarthy, etc.) get shredded. Give me a break; Mike Tomlin is their golden boy.
So. As noted - followed by 12 years of sub playoff seasonsWell...the previous years prior to the 80s record, the Steelers were kind of a big deal with 4 Super Bowls in 6 years - while this team hasn't won a playoff game in 8. Jussssstttt a bit outside.
Who was that ?They openly criticized Marvin Lewis for similar results.
CorrectRemember again......most of those guys who were let walk Dan Rooney was in charge. Art II seems to operate their offices with a Friends and Family slant.
Dallas Cowboys traded their best player Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings. The resulting rebuild was three Lombardi trophies. Are you Ben Cherington? What NFL team has ever traded its better players to start a rebuild? Can you cite any successful examples of this ever happening?
See there you go with the lame attempt at mis-direction. The original post was regarding ZERO playoff wins in 7( and soon to be 8) seasons. Not "sub playoff seasons" because the Steeler had playoff wins in 79, 84, 89, 94, 95.So. As noted - followed by 12 years of sub playoff seasons
.
Thanks for confirmed my point was accurate
And again, in those years, there were only 4 playoff slots, 2 rds plus the SB. So you had less chance to stack playoff wins than you do now.See there you go with the lame attempt at mis-direction. Exactly!!And again, in those years, there were only 4 playoff slots, 2 rds plus the SB. So you had less chance to stack playoff wins than you do now.
I cannot imagine a coach with Tomlin's tenure being willing to work in a situation where he had to keep aging talent against his will.Remember again......most of those guys who were let walk Dan Rooney was in charge. Art II seems to operate their offices with a Friends and Family slant.
Glad you pointed out the Blake Bortles disappointment. The Steelers are a bad joke in the playoffs. In their last 3 playoff appearances they have been beaten before they started. This is why I say they can't be taken seriously. Last year against Buffalo they got down 21-0. Against KC in 2022 they trailed 35-7. Against Cleveland in 2021 they trailed 28-0. Those are the 3 games this decade. They were not even remotely competitive in any of them. This dude can't be serious comparing Tomlin to Harbaugh, even when Harbaugh loses his team is competitive. The Steelers have proven they are not legitimate in competing for anything. This Saturday will be Harbaugh vs. Tomlin. It's a good bet that Baltimore gets out to a big lead again and cruises to victory. We've actually won 8 of the last 10 against them, but, I can't wait to see how Tomlin does when it matters!!1) You're wrong - they have two playoff wins in the last five years
2) You mean that same Houston team that took Tomlin's boys behind the woodshed last year?
3) We're discrediting playoff wins because of who they played now? What about getting Ryan Tannehill at home? What about the end of the Cincy game turning into the Jerry Springer show? What about getting Tebow and Bortles... whoops! Forgot they lost those game.
You are not getting what I am saying. Art II is subservient to Tomlin. Dan Rooney was the boss when he ran the team.I cannot imagine a coach with Tomlin's tenure being willing to work in a situation where he had to keep aging talent against his will.
Ahh. Gotcha. My bad.You are not getting what I am saying. Art II is subservient to Tomlin. Dan Rooney was the boss when he ran the team.
Why so you think the coaching isn’t doing what is directed by art 2?You are not getting what I am saying. Art II is subservient to Tomlin. Dan Rooney was the boss when he ran the team.
I didn't say that either. You constantly try to play this "gotcha" with me like you are some super genius who thinks he knows what I mean and has a built in narrative regarding me that has no basis in reality except in your warped world. You are such a self-loathing loser. I am sure your dad is proud. Just put me on ignore because your responses are getting more inane to me each day and right now it is like the middle of next week. Why so you think the coaching isn’t doing what is directed by art 2?
Hey at least he didn’t take personal shots at you and weirdly flex his retirement accounts.I didn't say that either. You literally said Tomlin is driving the franchise , not the owner in the post I replied to .I didn't say that either. King of personal insults !
Makes Tomlin look even worse. 1 playoff win 2017-2019 when he had 20 Pro Bowl seasons on the roster. The decade of 2010-19 the Steelers drafted the 6th most (different) players to make a Pro Bowl and had the 7th highest success rate.
Houston Texans. Are you Ben Cherington? What NFL team has ever traded its better players to start a rebuild? Can you cite any successful examples of this ever happening?
Steelers have been outscored 56-0 in the 1st quarter of the playoffs in the last few years.Glad you pointed out the Blake Bortles disappointment. The Steelers are a bad joke in the playoffs. In their last 3 playoff appearances they have been beaten before they started. This is why I say they can't be taken seriously. Last year against Buffalo they got down 21-0. Your assuming there is pressure on Tomlin. Anyone in the media can complain but it will pretty much evaporate after Tomlin has another hissy fit and walks away from the podium Saturday night. The postseason presser will be about making changes and the annual scapegoating of a player or coach. Draft comes and everyone is jacked up on the latest first rounder that doesn't address an immediate need or was just a flat out reach. Wash, rinse, repeat. Five years from now we'll still be having this conversation. If the Steelers beat the Ravens, is the pressure off Tomlin for winning a playoff game?
Oh-You’re confused.
I think if it was anything it was innocuous guy stuff ribbing. It’s an anonymous message board. Nothings personal for me. Maybe you should stay in your safe space. Isn’t that what you said when you laughed at and made fun of my dead mother in law and literally everyone on the board, and every other human being who would have seen it, told you that you were wrong?Oh-
You aren’t going to admit to literally taking personal shots at me
A couple weeks ago ?
Despite knowing nothing above me?
So- that’s a yes - you are denying those posts you made ?I think if it was anything it was innocuous guy stuff ribbing. It’s an anonymous message board. Nothings personal for me. I don’t suffer foolswow Pitt Pharm making lots of friends I see.
dude - you suck the life out of this place.
please stop posting.
Bingo. Hit the nail on the head. Not winning playoff games when we had talent. Surely not going to win them when we don't (although I do think we have a punchers chance tomorrow just because it's Baltimore).Makes Tomlin look even worse. 1 playoff win 2017-2019 when he had 20 Pro Bowl seasons on the roster.
Ben becoming a turnover machine doesn’t helpBingo. Hit the nail on the head. Not winning playoff games when we had talent. Surely not going to win them when we don't (although I do think we have a punchers chance tomorrow just because it's Baltimore).
Ben becoming a turnover machine doesn’t help
This may surprise youTebow threw for 316 yards against us on 10 completions. Do you know how broken a defense has to be for that to happen?
Jacksonville, after beating us at home in the regular season, came in with a worse QB than Mitch Trubisky and dropped 45 en route to doing it again.
Yes, Ben was awful in the Cleveland game. But that team was on a downward spiral and already cooked.
Also, are we taking credit away from Tomlin for winning a Super Bowl when Ben led one of the best drives in NFL history? Same with the big comeback against Baltimore that led to getting to a second Super Bowl, including that dime he dropped to Antonio Brown. Let me guess: that was all Tomlin.
This may surprise you
I’m not the guy who thinks every single thing is related to the HC
They have very little actually control once the game starts .
It’s the players who have to execute .
Nobody here screams “Tomlin is brilliant “ for wins .
, yet plenty blame him exclusively for every loss .
You all need medicated
Coaches aren’t magic , especially in the NFL.Okay, from a micro perspective it's not all the head coach's fault. But there's a difference between fooling me once and fooling me 8 years in a row. Should we never fire any head coach under the premise that players play?
Yes, winning in the playoffs is better than not winning in the playoffs. Tomlin's entire philosophy right now won't cut it to make a deep run in the playoffs anymore. He coaches scared.Coaches aren’t magic , especially in the NFL.
If the owners want a change they can make one
Anonymous posters on a pitt rivals message board aren’t going to influence that decision
If Tomlin won a wildcard game a few times and lost the next - would it actually make any difference ?!?
It’s a stupid narrative.
