Kind of funny that Dixon's coaching and gameplan doesn't get ANY credit in Wisconsin's dismal offensive perforance last Friday. They played the guys they did and the way they did on D to hold down a couple of Wisconsin's best scorers, and they did that to perfection.
Now, on the offensive side...I'm sure Dixon told the guys, OK, we're going to run these sets to get pretty good open shots or layups, now, BE SURE YOU MISS THEM!
I'm sure he coached Artis to make that boneheaded, momentum changing turnover pass, or coached Young to twice lose the ball off failed dribble in traffic blunders.
I'm sure he told Young and Robinson to run into each other on the last offensive play of the game so we wouldn't win, or he coached Young to let Wisconsin beat him for a rebound off a missed free throw.
Granted, you question not playing Luther more, but perhaps what you give up on D outweighs what you gain on O? Who knows, but the fact remains, if we hit just a few of those wide open shots, or limit a couple of turnovers, we win that game. To put so much negative angst in one flukey game doesn't make sense!
