PITT OBVIOUSLY SUCKS AND THEY WILL LOSE AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I'M A BETTER FAN THAN YOU BECAUSE I GET SO EMOTIONAL OVER EVERY. SINGLY. PASS AND SHOT. I DON'T "ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY" AND DEMAND PERFECTION FROM MY TEAM!

Just getting ready for today.

Maybe another time for perfection, down 26 with 5 mins to go

I take the opposite stance, those who this doesn't bother and accept it, allow this type of play to continue. Called the PERDERSON PRINCIPLE
Other than spelling the name wrong, that was actually pretty funny. Good one!

Yes, the only true fans don't really care if Pitt wins or loses. These fans are just glad we show up on time for the games.

I think people who need to make a distinction between "true" fans and "fake" fans are morons. It's unsurprising that you do something like that.

And you missed the point. But again, that's not surprising because you're the type of dude who'd rather tear down Steven Adams, a Pitt alum, while celebrating TJ McConnell, not a Pitt alum, for their relative NBA and college success.

I'm a Pitt fan. I want Pitt to win. But I'm not about to throw a tantrum on the boards because they don't play well. Sports just aren't that important, dude.

That Pitt obviously sucks - what ELSE could that have referred to? It was sarcasm. Oh, and that they will lose.

Actually, that was a great prediction. How are you on Powerball number predictions? ;)

I got it, dummy. I just think fans who attack fans for being too negative are blind to the fact that their team actually does suck. I was pointing out to the OP that the team DOES suck. If I was savvy enough I'd re-post your nifty graph.

I'm aware Pitt's not very good. That won't stop me from laughing at idiots on this board though.

So I ask once again-what are you doing here? Just here to pi$$ people off? To talk about what exactly?

Good to know how "great" a fan you are, zzzzzzzzzz. Go away please and let us real fans who don't want to see Pitt basketball getting blown out all the time vent.

He's like NTOP and a few others who want to put people down for criticizing the team or coach or players. It's comical reading this clown.

I generally enjoy the community and I like talking Pitt sports. Just because I don't let myself get all bent out of shape over Ws and Ls doesn't mean I don't enjoy the games. I don't understand why this is so hard to understand.

Um...then why the heck bother to comment on a "sports message board"???? You could just sit and read a book while having a "nice" cup of tea instead.

Just a simple question...

Go Pitt.

Because I like talking Pitt sports with (relatively) sane people?

Fair. It helps ease the pain of having no winter sports left (unless you love winning the CBI). I wish I could get into the Pens.

Like I've said - I want Pitt to win. I get more entertainment value out of Ws than Ls. But I won't let myself be legitimately affected by the outcomes of sporting events ever again. I've had several instances (Nova, Butler, the Steelers-Cardinals SB) where I had way too strong an emotional reaction to the outcome of a game I have no control over. I did some self-reflection and decided I wasn't going to let a game influence my life to that extent. So, I'll be disappointed to see Pitt lose, but I'm not going to let it affect my life. My actual life is serious enough that I don't have time for that.

Lol. "Real fans." So only people who act like babies after losses are real fans?

I turned the game off in the first half, why torture myself. Reading Uncle Toms Cabin for the first time. Powerful book. Drinking chamomile.

This is a big reason why I love the NBA so much. If it's a fun game, I'll watch til the end. If I'm bored, I'll turn it off. It's all just entertainment. There's enough to get stressed out about that I'm not going to worry about a bunch of kids hooping.

Haha. Don't you see that you actually ARE letting it affect your life?

Let's be honest, been a fun run with Pitt basketball but the more I've followed the college landscape the more I'm pretty convinced that water will simply always find its level.

Teams come up out of nowhere for a few years, go back and rebuild, then maybe they re-emerge and maybe they don't. Unless you're a blue blood or an elite school, there's no real staying power unless a team is willing to cheat like crazy to get there and stay there (UConn under Calhoun most notably).

I love college hoops, it's a fantastic sport to watch, but you're playing against a stacked deck unless you're a UK, KU, Duke, Cuse, UNC, UCLA, Arizona, etc that pretty much just sells itself with its brand and history.

I'm interested to see the roster in 2 years. That'll be indicative of Pitt's state, I think.

Mrs kiwi wants to cancel cable now. I blame Dixon for that.
You're at a crossroad? Are you the King of your Castle or not. Don't blame Jamie for the cable issue.
But I have to admit Mrs. BuffettParrothead calls the shots in our sand dune! So I'd be on the phone cancelling the cable now??

I am purely a figure head. The real power is behind the throne. Actually, my wife allows me to make all the big decisions, but she gets to decide which decisions are big. :D:D

Football is much the same anymore, which is why I am liking college sports less and less. Dreams of Pitt becoming a FB powerhouse and regaining past glories are a pipe dream. Basketball may slip back to where we were, maybe bounce back, but we will probably never be elite in those sports, not for a sustained period.

I like your optimism, but if you follow college sports at all, the divide between the haves and the have nots is growing. The commitment to be a force may not be there for Pitt, not at the price it costs. I could be wrong, but that's what I think I see.

Louisville has been good for, like, decades. They were going to Final Fours in the 70's and 80's it's not like Pitino just rolled in and built them out of nothing.

I'm talking football also stat geek, if you think Pitt can't reach those standards, whats the point?
