I think you could add being a no-show at university events (if his apparently unexpected absence at the football kick-off banquet was what it appeared on the surface)
This is the type of thing that seems most logical in that if he were directed to be at certain events and did not attend, was warned and continued to ignore any number of directives this could be an issue. Over the years at many jobs my supervisors who were salaried dreaded getting a new boss because they were not sure what things the new boss would require of them. There are always a variety of leadership styles and requirements change with the new boss. I'd bet that HL and Barnes are worlds apart on their approach.
