Lamont Wade will be taking a Final Official Visit to Pitt

I think it was a great year for the B1G. tOSU is in the playoffs and the NY6 bowls are full of B1G teams. PSU was young this year too. I agree that MSU will be better in the future, but I don't think PSU's success is a fluke either.

The Big 10 East has, at least for now, replaced SEC West as the epicenter of college football.
-No. You see that requires championships. Laying down every bowl season like the big ten has done for how long does not count. Losing to Iowa and needing a come from behind victory against Indiana foes not mean contender. Ohio State and Michigan winning 3 titles combined in about 50 years of football doesn't mean contender either. The sec west still owns. The east needs to win some hardware.

My point is that he's thinking about how he'll spend his next three years. Playing for national championships is a big drawing point now that PSU had all the pieces fall in the right spots. PSU being ranked 5th with a very young team shows that they're closer to contending than Pitt is, and unfortunately kind of diminishes the win against PSU since they rebounded so nicely.

PLEASE!!!

If this year proved anything it is Penn state is the Boise St of the NCAA... THEY WON THE BIG 10 and they STILL didnt get into the playoffs!

It is a Ohio State and Michigan world for them and they are wearing buckeye underwear

Now here's the bad news: everybody in CFB has to go back to the bottom of the mountain again to start the climb for 2017 all over again.

As far as the nits, this year shows they will have to be able to beat BOTH tOSU and Michigan in the same year to have a reasonable chance at ever making the CFP (barring the highly unusual event of tOSU and/or Michigan both having bad years at the same time).

The B1G is run - and always has been run - by tOSU and Michigan. The B1G likes it that way and will do their damndest to KEEP it that way. They want that tOSU/Michigan game on the final weekend of the regular season to be for all of the money, marbles and chalk as far as the B1G and the CFP are concerned. That was made perfectly clear this season.

Right now, the Big 10 East is the most exciting and its going to get far and away the most media coverage.

Bama is owning the SEC like UK does basketball. It's become child's play.

LOL. Except teams from the sec west play and win national titles like LSU and auburn. Penn State or Michigan and the word national title don't go hand in hand any more. The big ten will never get more coverage then the sec if ESPN has anything to say about it. For every 1 big ten article there are 2 sec articles and 5 bama articles.

The nit sympathizers ALWAYS feel compelled to weigh in on Pitt forums. But they are just a voice in the wilderness that others, that are not in the nits own little world, pay any attention to.

And THIS year is a particularly bad one to be touting the nits on a Pitt board, after all! :)

Not true about the playoff. Had they beaten us and played Michigan respectable, they would be in. They didn't, and tOSU has a superior resume. It's as simple as that.

tOSU & Michigan are part of college football's regal society. It's been that way for years. That doesn't their game is always going to be for all the marbles.

LSU & AU are undergoing coaching changes and dealing with coaches on the hotseat at the present time.

It's just the opinion of mostly everyone on the paid forum. PSU leading for Wade doesnt appear to be a surprise to anyone. Those reasons I stated in my earlier posts were taking a step back from my pitt bias and looking at things neutrally. Their recent success and publicity has been great for their recruiting this season and going into 18'

-Maybe that's your main criteria. But its not Fords or Wades. Circumstances are different by player. If he wants to win a title he can go to Alabama, both of them can. Although you are assuming Pitt will not be in the running next year for anything. I beg to differ, especially if we fix our secondary we will beat Penn state again.
Wade cannot go to Alabama. Ford is a likely no, but slight chance.

B1G has gotten much hype since it has 3 teams in the top 6. However, it's 'strength' is not shared by Vegas, as only 3 of the ten teams in bowls are favorites on opening lines. Mich, OSU, and Wisc are the only favorites. The SEC was down this year other than Bama. The ACC had strength at the top, but balance overall, and the PAC12 was also balanced. The Big12 also was not as strong as usual this year.

Your post makes no sense. The use of the word "us" in particular. Because the nits never play vs themselves, do they?

My original post that you quoted stands as written. The B1G is ALL ABOUT tOSU and Michigan. That's how it will remain, too. Whether the nit sympathizers like it or not!

That being said... I feel way better for the guys that admit they are nits and have their opinions there, then the trolls that use Pitt handles and act like Pitt fans (well, not act like, but act like they are super negative, big 10 loving, penn state loving Pitt fans)

Yep. Me too. If these nit posers would just come out of the closet, it would probably make them feel better, too. Instead of making their feeble attempts to be "clever".

Pitt lost 3 games by a total of 11 points. They beat PSU head to head. With a nominal defensive backfield Pitt is Top 5 as well. Wade could be a prime piece of the puzzle. I'm sure he see that as well and will take into consideration Paris Ford coming in and Damar Hamlin already being here.

PSU fans like you will see it your way regardless. IF Pitt gets the last OV it's certainly a good sign

There is a difference between staff changes and pressure due to not meeting expectations and a coach moving on to reap the benefits of success.
What difference does it make. Finding a good replacment is finding a good replacement. Penn State might hire Jim Chaney for all I know. Georgia has to deal with that that train wreck coach now.

I will also add... Hamlin did the same kinda thing last year, he was kinda screwing with everyone. If you strictly read Hamlin's tweets and likes, you would have had him pegged to go to ped state.
Not saying Wade is coming to Pitt, I dont know, and certainly hope he does, but I agree that all perceptions used to point to him going to Tennessee, and now it is slightly pointing to the cess pool to the east (TCPTE)

What does that even mean? Ohio State & Michigan are without question the highest profile Big 10 schools. What's your point?

I don't know why I'm even wasting time writing this but goodness, just because someone's less sure that he's coming to Pitt than others doesn't mean I'm a PSU fan. I want him to come to Pitt, but based off of our own insiders thoughts about them giving PSU the edge right now, I wanted to relay that information to the free board. Instead I've been called a nitter. Get real

Some of you are impossible.

I responded to a post that said it was a "historical down year" for the Big 10. That just isn't true. It was a great year for the Big 10 and the Big 10 East IS the hottest thing in college football right now. As strong as tOSU & Michigan are, another team represented the East in the B1G Championship game this year & last. That's pretty darn strong.

The SEC West is currently Bama's bitch.

Dealing in reality doesn't mean Im a Nitter. My original comment in this thread defended Narduzzi's secondary coaching. I want Wade in a Pitt uniform next year. Pitt is on the rise and he would be successful here imo. That doesn't mean I have to make myself look stupid and agree with opinions that are way out in left field. Hell, Paul Finebaum will tell you the Big 10 is better than the SEC right now and he is a total SEC sheep.

Now if PedSt could figure out how to be the best team in PA...You could be on to something.

Is it me or does it feel like decades since PedSt last beat Pitt?

"...If I was making a pick for Wade today if the dead period started tomorrow morning, I would be taking Penn State. I very well may continue to pick Penn State on this one for the next two weeks leading up to his commitment."

Our own insider said that statement in the premium forum that I pay for. So let me ask you, if someone having doubts about where he ends up makes you a PSU fan, does that make Peak or Ryan Donnelly PSU fans too?

"Most exciting" and B1G in the same sentence is funny.

Here's the B1G east in a nutshell....cakewalk, P5 OOC (maybe), cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk, annual asskicking, cakewalk, cakewalk, hope for devine intervention, cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk, followed by disappointment if you are not tO$U or Mich.

I like hearing info but for your sake you might wanna refrain from posting premium info over here. Don't think Peak will take too kindly to that.

Then you lack self-awareness. The 39 posts to date didn't help your credibility as you lauded PSU. It is what it is.

Fair enough, I may have came on too strong about PSU having impressed recruits through a series of games that they won through luck, but you can't call every new member a nitter who has opposing views. For the record, I joined in October after we beat PSU and I got really into the program because I think Narduzzi is changing it for the better.

There are some Nitters on here under the guise of being Pitt fans. And with you being new and posting something that doesn't go Pitt's way - that's just something people jump to. No idea if you are or aren't - but that's just how they do on this board. Sometimes it's warranted and I'm sure sometimes it isn't. Some are fans of both teams which others can't begin to comprehend.

Yeah I get it. I was just taking my pitt glasses off and trying to look at things from a neutral perspective.

Most exciting? That conference hasn't heard of the forward pass yet. It's 3 yards in a cloud of dust. I think that's why psu did so well, they are the only ones who can pass in that conference. That and the schedule was cupcake city after Ohio state.

The Big Ten East has Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State.

it also has Maryland, Rutgers, Indiana, and Michigan State... with 17 total wins between them.

it is 3/7th of a good Division.

The Big 10 teams are more masterful of scheduling than Jamie Dixon getting his good RPI's. The bottom of the Big 10 is horrid. It is great having most of the good team in one division. That makes Wisconsin and Nebraska look just as dominant in the other one. If Michigan didn't have a hurt QB, they would have run the table. Leaving the other 2 teams at 10-2 which is still impressive. MSU had a down year. I don't want to take away what PSU did. They beat who they were supposed to beat + 1 (OSU). However, they beat a lot of soup cans. This year was as close as they will get. Michigan will slap them around next year and OSU will too. (If OSU and PSU played 10 times this year, OSU would have won 9) MSU will rebound. Maryland is starting to get the recruits. Rutgers and Indiana will still give PSU 2 wins a year.

Pitt was 1 win away from the conference championship game. They beat the 2 and 5 team in the country. I don't think Pitt is as far away as PSU. Pitt is close and they need to sell that. If Pitt can get a couple dominant CB's, I think that will get them over the top. Nice stable of DL and more athletic LB's coming up. Keep Canada and we should see more scores like the Duke game than the scores against NC.

The Big 10 had 4 teams finish with 3 wins or less. Think about that for a while fanboy. And that doesn't even include highly average teams like Indiana or Maryland.

Usually conferences are judged by how strong they are at the top. When we were in the Big East and it was hailed as a great basketball conference, nobody talked about Rutgers, DePaul, St Johns, Seton Hall, South Florida, or Providence.

The Big Ten deserves the hype they got this year, imo.

true, it is judged, unfairly, by the top. And the top gets there by pounding on the bottom dwellars which are numerous in the Big 10. Four guaranteed wins, plus most likely 3 cream puffs for OOC. The only way to truly tell this year is bowl season. Remember 2006 I believe when everyone thought it should be OSU-Michigan rematch for BCS championship. Both teams were then pounded in their respective games.
