Louisville game thread

we brought smith in to shoot. No play run for him. You have to shoot threes. Jamie handcuffed team in my opinion. And the team played poorly. Everyone to blame. Jamie thought they could impose their will and they couldn't. Dribble penetrations and kick outs are the answer to an aggressive double teaming defense. Especially when you have no advantage in the paint. Also this was the most half court offense and sets we probably played this year. We were not attacking. Credit to the ville.... Pitt is their bitch. They slapped us all night.
They ran an inbound play for Smith at the beginning of the 2nd half and he missed the 2 foot layup.

Did anyone check on Mr Groat...?!?

I had to be away from the television from the under eight timeout in the second half until the end of the game, so I was listening on the radio. Needless to say, Mr. Groat was not pleased. He sounded like a Lair poster complaining about how Pitt was getting called for nickle-dimers and Louisville wasn't getting called for anything. There were also several times when all he could get out was a trademark "wow".

I should also point out that in the less than eight minutes that I listened to the game Bill Hillgrove got the score or the margin of the lead wrong at least seven times that I noticed. When they came back from the commercial break at the end of the game he actually apologized because he even screwed up the final score before they went to the commercial. You'd think a guy would know that if the score is 53-37 (and he even gave the score right before the first foul shot) and the team that is winning makes a foul shot that the score would be 54-37, and then when they made the next shot it was 55-37, but no, that's too much to ask. As is, apparently, just looking at the scoreboard and seeing what it says. Then the funny thing was that after he corrected himself and said that the score was actually 55-37 he still said that was a 19 point Louisville lead.

No, you see... That's character.
Remotely being accurate or competent is not in the job description according to some.

You can't ever listen to a game with Bill and Dick and hope to have any idea of what is happening on the court.

They're entertaining to listen to if you are watching the game, so you don't have to worry about whether they are being accurate or not.

But Dick has been reduced to simply a bunch of superlative or declarative nonsense words during the game that don't describe the action at all. "Wow!" "Holy Cow!" "I can't believe that!" don't give any information to the listener at all about what is happening.

And Bill Hillgrove, god love him, has a GREAT radio voice for sports. But he simply is completely inaccurate about everything - in both sports. He gets the down and distance wrong constantly in football, and Pat Bostick bails him out.

But if anybody expects to have any clue about what is happening in a game by listening to Pitt radio broadcasts, they're going to be disappointed.
