Will coach against NC State, possibly bowl game. I will miss him. He helped us break the curse against UNC. We actually began to win a few.

There was a time that this board was convinced that he was going to make UNC a power again but it seems like we do that with a lot of ACC coaches.

Careful. If PittBB80 sees this before he's able to find something about it on Google, you may be accused of trolling and called a word that rhymes with "bee card." Post this at your own peril, OP.

He was right about Bell, though.

Nobody said he was leaving. The question was whether or not there were reports about it or if I just made it up to troll. He was dead wrong. And the fact that the Defender of Contrarianism has now chimed in only cements this even further.

There were no credible reports about contact.

Living rent free in that empty coconut of yours lol. You truly are a clown

Lol. Sticking with a rumor on PSN. You’re gonna make SMF look smart soon

Wish he had 5 more years of coaching in him and that they wanted him to stay around Chapel Hill. Oh well.

It's kind of odd (in a way) that the ACC has become so weak among the P4 conferences in football and basketball, and is now the top conference in Olympic sports (volleyball, soccer)

Basketball this year for the ACC has taken a huge, backward step when you look at the conference's record against their non-conference opponents

As a side note, was the re-hiring of Brown at UNC somewhat similar to our re-hiring of Johnny Majors? Expecting better than what was delivered? (albeit, Brown II was much more successful than Majors II)

The ACC has never won a volleyball national title, has it? I wouldn't call it the top conference, yet.

No question that the addition of Stanford is a huge boost to the conference's olympic sports.

Yeah, that program has the potential to be a lot more than what it is, so I wouldn't call this good news.

Random thought: Michael Jordan is worth $3.5 Billion. Is he not interested in funding UNC's NIL efforts at all?

Granted, recruiting was far from Mack Brown's biggest problem. But I do think there's a level you can reach where you're too talented to fail most weeks - at least in the ACC. They obviously weren't at that level.

Why would he care about the football team ?
He loves hoops, baseball , and NASCAR

This (volleyball nc) will hopefully be the year that it happens. The ACC is a solid second to the B1G with the core of Pitt, Louisville, Stanford, SMU, GT, and FSU in the Top 25 rankings

Now with the Pac and big consolidation-
Gonna be a tough conference to dethrone

Brown was able to win recruiting battles in Texas. I think Brown version 2.0 was based on Brown getting the NC kids to go to UNC. The talent level in North Carolina improved quite a bit from Brown's first go around at NC to the second. But just like Texas, he didn't do enough with it.

“Back to the Future” never works.

I’m not sure how much UNC fans were actually expecting?

Brown was never suppose to be a long term answer.
And early on UNC fans would talk about which member of the staff will essentially be the coach in waiting. I think the DC was the generally accepted answer. Until he sucked.

Brown seemed like a hire that was meant to stop the bleeding, and either turn it over to the coach in waiting or just make the job more desired. “Look at the connections with the local base and the elevated recruiting you can have. Brown showed it can be done.”

The weak ACC currently has 3 teams in the CFP.

Not sure three get in. If SMU loses in the championship game, they will get jumped over by Bama. Even Clemson is hanging on at this point.

Clemson is not in right now; they're the first team out. There are only four conferences represented in the top 11, so a team from either the Big 12 or AAC would get the nod ahead of Clemson. It would be Arizona State as of today; I'm just saying that may change. But Clemson needs help to get in... unless they beat SC so badly they leapfrog somebody, but I doubt that happens.

I think the chances of 3 ACC teams getting in is very slim, even if Clemson beats South Carolina. The bigger question is whether SEC only gets 3 in, while Big 10 looks to be getting 4.

Yeah, I posted it in another thread but the ACC's only chance (in my opinion) is for all three teams to win emphatically this weekend and then SMU and Miami to play a really close game next weekend... specifically, SMU would probably have to beat Miami by a very slim margin. And even then I'd be skeptical.

And even on top of all that, something has to happen to one of the top 11 not named Boise State for Clemson to jump them. Just pretty unlikely that everything goes just right.

I think it is very likely that the ACC gets 3 in.

If I were buying options , I’d buy a put on 1.
If Miami beats smu - smu may get left out .
I’d put a Call on SEC 4

Tough to argue in favor of the ACC getting three in. Clemson at 12 really surprised me.

Clemson 9-2
Impressive Wins: None
Losses: Georgia (by 31); Louisville (by 12)

Alabama 8-3
Impressive Wins: Georgia (by 7); South Carolina (by 2); Missouri (by 21)
Losses: Vanderbilt (by 5); Tennessee (by 7); Oklahoma (by 21)

Ole Miss 8-3
Impressive Wins: Georgia (by 18); South Carolina (by 24)
Losses: Kentucky (by 3); LSU (by 3); Florida (by 7)

Clemson's best win is probably at Pitt, which is no more impressive than Alabama beating LSU or Ole Miss beating Oklahoma. I don't think there is an easy way to rank these three teams, but in no scenario would I not have Clemson being the lowest of the three.

It should be obvious by now that the CFP values overall record more than better team - the current rankings show that. A 2-loss ACC championship loser and a 2-loss Clemson will get in over a 3-loss SEC team.

9-2 Georgia and 9-2 Tennessee are higher than 10-1 SMU and 10-1 Indiana.

8-3 Alabama, 8-3 Ole Miss, and 8-3 South Carolina are higher than 9-2 Arizona State, 9-2 Iowa State, and 9-2 BYU.

So what exactly is so obvious about it?
