The impact is at select Dick's stores and is expaning as Dick's ran a ton of sales and promotions to keep sales up!
The store near us has layed off workers despite full employment in the area!

Eventually it will hurt them!

Recent News Report:
Dick’s Sporting Goods won high praise from gun grabbers and the media for their knee-jerk reaction to the Parkland school massacre. Under CEO Edward Stack, the chain pulled magazines and modern sporting rifles from their shelves. They also unilaterally decided to end sales of all guns to anyone under 21.

It hasn’t gone well for Dick’s since then as sales have sagged. Fortune Magazine reported on a “deeper-than-expected sales decline” for the sporting goods chain. What’s more, the company’s stock price hovers near seven-year lows. For those really keeping track, it sank 5% on Friday.

Ever the intrepid reporter, I stopped by the Champaign, Illinois Dick’s-owned Field & Stream store to look around.

Sure enough, store staff replaced the rows of America’s favorite rifle and many others with widely-spaced long guns on display. It’s almost as if they’re trying to conceal the massive inventory gaps left by the suddenly banished, hot-selling modern sporting rifles.

Over time this will be really bad for Dicks!
Can't wait until they go the way of Sports Authority!

Your political hot-takes are pretty dumb. That was the point of your OP, right? You want to point and laugh at a dead kid to fit some narrative about how soft academia has become and you’ve been dying to get some affirmation but the Locker Room is dead.

A football coach and his staff physically and mentally abused a kid to death. The school did nothing about it. As if that’s not sick enough, you’re here connecting it to some agenda.

Stop.

A point in time!

It's summer and they're doing well with Golf Galaxy and other summer stuff.

Winter and hunting seasons are approaching which is when Dicks relies on Gun, Ammo, and other related business which they won't get!

Shooting ranges have busy times in winter!

We'll see so let's look at a Dick's full year! Q 1, Q2, Q3 ( summer sales), Q4 of 2019.

This kid (God Bless Him) didn't die from a heart attack as mentioned above. He died unnecessarily from heat stroke. This death ranks right up there with Kelleys stupidity at ND with the tower death of that young man.
There is absolutely no reason today that any youngster involved in team sports, with the knowledge we now have, to succumb to this kind of death.

They're not? Yes they do!

Just look up the Under Armour guy who is a Maryland alum and start adding up what he does for the U.

He donates the uni's +
Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank promised to contribute $25 million to the University of Maryland to help pay for a planned $155 million athletics and academic complex — a project that was unanimously endorsed Thursday by a Board of Regents committee.

With the commitment of Plank, which will be formally announced by the university on Friday, the university now has pledges for about $45 million of the $95 million in private donations it will need for the project, said university President Wallace D. Loh. The rest of the money will come from the university and the state.

This is the tip of the iceberg!
If UA truly propped up the UMD AD, they would not have had to jump to the B1G. There is a big difference between a contribution to an athletic facility vs. funding their programs. The UMD Athletic Department after years of poor decisions was completely in the red and forced to cut scholarships to many of their athletic programs. UA was never going to bail them out, hence their inexplicable jump from being an ACC founding member to the B1G where they will never fit in, but received an immediate payday.

It’s impressive how someone can be so loudly wrong consistently

100% Correct. I will go one step further. With all the people competing to move into D1 athletics there is absolutely no reason to hire or tolerate people who do not model professional behavior and/or treat student athletes with common decency. Abusing those at the lower end of any hierarchy is for cowards. Maryland can lose to OSU and PSU by a combined score of 128-17 without these clowns.

And I'll go even one step further. UMD can lose to tOSU and PSU by a combined score of 128-17 WITH these clowns which makes their behavior even more inexplicable.

That was like my high school football practices in the 70s, with NO WATER.

This was the point of my previous post. Not only limited or no water the football workouts were in full pads all practice long for most days.

But read on!

Back in the day in my case the late 60's for HS football and HS wrestling and the early 70's for college wrestling.

We wrestled in hot wrestling rooms, some with heat on, in rubber suits ( which are banned now) to get in shape and make weight.

In addition to HS , and college wrestling I wrestled AAU at the Plainfield NJ YMCA in another wrestling sweat shop.

During all of those years I never heard of a death from football or wrestling heat related injuries.

In the late 60s kids weren't taking performance enhancing substances like they do today.Today I've personally read about atleast six and I'm sure there's more.

Today kids take performance enhancers which require water to be safe.
If their coaches don't know they're taking the stuff if becomes a deadly situation when the heat ramps up and hydration decreases.

Both of our kids were on a PA HS State Championship wrestling team, they both lettered three years, were in the starting wrestling line-up, and we wouldn't allow them to take performance enhancing substances due to the hidden dangers.

The coach of our HS wrestling team is a wrestling legend in PA and had frequent parent meetings.
This was one of the things he harped on don't give your kids performance enhancing substances ( many are available and legal) on your own. Check with us the coaching staff so we know what going on and we can give you advise and options.

As he said noone can stop a parent from giving their kid legal options but the coaching staff has to know!

He was a natural vitamin guy not a performance enhancer coach which we liked.

There's a tv commercial now for an anti perspirant, where the prototypical a-hole sadist coach withholds water from the whole team because one kid wearing the product shows no sign of sweat. The rest of the guys are gasping and choking and glaring at the kid. Never do get the water.

It's actually an amusing bit. Probably had been written and produced months ago or last year, with the thought that such practices and coach archetypes were accurate (and acceptable).

Then this. I'm half expecting a scandal and boycott of the company to emerge from this, lol.

Haven't noticed that one.
What product was it I'll have to look into buying that product.
At a minimum it depicts reality on the football field or wrestling room!

We seem to be outraged and boycott lots of things with little or no knowledge!

It's for Degree. Googling "Degree Commercial Coach Water Break" or such words, should turn up a few sites that have the clip.

They have the coach actually slapping a cup of water out of the hand of one of the kid. So there's an element of assault to it as well. :D

Oh good Mrs Buffett and I buy that now!

Great stuff works really good even when we're at Key West on the beach in 100 degree weather with all the other Parrotheads.

Gotta look and smell good!

Please explain why Dick's stock price has increased 20% in the 6 months since they announced that they won't sell assult weapons?

Do you mean to write "massive growth" but misspelled it "sucking wind"? I'm sure it was a honest mistake.

One reason Under Armour is "sucking wind" is because they were partnered big time with Dick's Sporting Goods who is also "sucking wind" big time after their CEO condemned guns and the NRA.

Customers have left in mass!

Many people like Mrs Buffett and I would go to Dick's to purchase ammo and end up buying bike, golf , apparel ( Under Armour) , and other things.
We were Gold Dick's customers and at this time cancelled the Dick's Scorecard, and credit card.
The local Dick's in Eastern PA is in big trouble!
In our area there are 10 gun clubs/ shooting ranges in a 5 mile radius of our home and Dick's.
The ranges are always packed, with men, women, couples, parents with kids, women's and men's pistol shooting leagues three times a week, trap /skeet shooting, etc.
99 % of homeowners own guns and 75% have permits to carry weapons. Not to mention Open Carry is legal.

In addition many gun manufactures big ones have refused to supply Dick's with guns so they will eventually go out of the gun business.
Here's one but there are others:
O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc., the parent company of Mossberg guns, announced Wednesday they would no longer be doing business with the sports retailer. Mossberg & Sons ended its association with Dick's after Dick’s hired three Washington, D.C., lobbyists to push for gun control efforts, the National Review reported.

They'll end up selling apparell which is deadly competitive and scale down their business!
