Aaron Mathews just tweeted that he is announcing his commitment tomorrow. Pretty clear its to PSU. No big deal, since Pitt seemed to have backed off of him.

The potentially bigger issue is that Wade may go there with him. But that really isn't that big of a concern anyway, is it? Yes, he's a talented player, but he is listed at 5'9" in some places and 5'10" in others, meaning he is probably 5'9". Narduzzi is recruiting DBs who are much taller, 5'11" to 6'3", and leaning toward the upper end of that range.

Wade is a great athlete, but so is Maddox. Maddox is super fast, and was considered the best athlete in the state of Michigan his senior year. He was good enough to come to Pitt and grab a starting CB position in his first year. And he generally does a good job, but as we've seen, he gets beat trying to cover tall receivers, and there really isn't anything he can do to fix it, short of growing a few inches.

Paris Ford is just as talented, and is several inches taller; so is Hamlin. Both are about 6'1". It would be good to get Wade, but the height issue is a concern, so if Mathews commits to PSU and that means Wade too...oh, well. Narduzzi is going to get really talented DBs. That's not a concern.

Maddox would be a beast if he were 4 inches and 25 lbs bigger but he isn't and he gets exposed by big receivers, I say that because I heard Kenny Robinson was killing Wade in 7 on 7's so we don't need anymore Lil Db's and where would Matthews play?

Love to have Mathews but he is a project on the D side and not fast enough for WR. Should have no affect on Wade! Wade, Loe and Ford would be a huge haul for “17 for DBs.

Mathews to PSU no surprise

Wade to PSU/OSU no surprise. Just a few days ago he took some shots at us.

Maddox was not even close to the best athlete in Michigan. There is a reason why many schools passed, including michigan and MSU. Let's be honest, his best two offers were Pitt and Purdue. He had a wash state offer and a few Mac schools

considered the best athlete in the state of Michigan his senior year.

Not even close to true. He was considered one of the best 3 sport athletes in the Detroit PSL his senior year, but he wasn't even the most athletic football player on his own team.

Vegas and badby, you both took something I said and turned it into something I didn't say, and then criticized it. I said that he was considered the best athlete in MI -- I didn't say he was the best football player. I remember reading at the time that several coaches commented on his high athleticism (yes, multi-sport) and one called him the best in the state. And yes, there was a reason that MSU and UM didn't offer him; it wasn't his lack of athleticism -- they thought he was too small. Not only was he 5'9", but he has 'beefed up' to his current weight of 170 once he got to Pitt.

Wade has a bigger frame for sure which will help him at the next level with tackling, but the height issue will still be there.

Maddox needs a position change to slot receiver with additional duty as a kickoff and punt returner. He could be a big plus in that way.

Well, I hope he does well there, too bad we didnt have more room for the kid. With Tyler Boyd showing such class today, it would be nice to have kept the Clairton pipeline going. I think Wade is 3 times the player though, so hope we can get him!

We didn't want Mathews after the verbals we got. Is this really difficult to grasp for some people?
My post must have been difficult for you to grasp. Who said anything about Mathews?

I wasn't referring to you I was talking about SMF. For some reason it only quoted half the post

I agree, I just don't think he wants to play defense which obviously he has the right to decide for himself

This is not a big loss. He just isn't fast enough to be a difference maker in college.

Another example of the Dominator selecting instead of recruiting.

Pitt all but stopped recruiting Mathews awhile back. This one is obvious to see in Twitter, Mathews posts seems like he was hurt by Pitt not wanting him as a receiver. He soured on Pitt and narduzzi soured on him, we got much higher rated receivers. Ped state wants him only to help them get wade and no other reason. He is much lower rates than most of their recruits
