Mike Vukovcan piece in PSN

Funny how when the guy talks about where the kids transferred to he left out UNC. Right there it shows he has a BS agenda. Another clown who loves to see Pitt hoops in the toilet. And I love how the same people who trashed Dixon for signing Luther now blame his injury as one of the main reasons Stallings can't win a game. Hypocrites and Pitt haters. And I love how him and all the Stallings lovers forget the fact that when he took the job he re-recruited the entire class last year. If he was such a great mind why diodn't he tell them to go elsewhere and bring in his own kids then You want to defend the fiasco of today then defend the crap Stallings has pulled to make this team this bad.

Think that's the first article that ever had Calipari as the high water mark for a guy that coaches up his talent - very interesting

So to be clear, in your dim mind, "Pitt haters" are those that speak ill of the FORMER coach and a FORMER player who left Pitt high-and-dry like farts in the wind? Makes sense to me!

In reality, those that have spoken ill of our current coach and players since the day they were announced, openly rooting for Pitt to fail so that they feel justified in calling the former coach a god, are the "Pitt haters".

At the expense of not really wanting to defend Stallings because I don't think he will get the job done here I will take a stab at your post.

As for leaving out UNC, he clearly states the following in his article. Pretty clear to me he states Johnson doesn't fall under this description of players that couldn't help. But carry on.....
Aside from Johnson, none of those players are contributing at a high level this season and none of those players would have been a better option for this year’s team.

As for trashing Dixon for signing Luther... I honestly don't remember that but maybe it happened. Regardless though, that is irrelevant. Players can develop and players can improve during their playing career. Frankly Dixon made a living out of getting more from his players than anyone thought possible when they were recruited. Just because they were underwhelming coming in as recruits doesn't make losing them to injury their junior/senior years less important. The two are not even related. The loss of Luther hurt this team both last year and this year. Obviously with Luther this year, the results would not be dramatically different from a win/loss standpoint but I don't think they would be winless in the ACC either. I think they would have a few wins by end of year in Conference with Luther.

As for rerecruiting the entire class, agree partially although it was not a great time to redo an entire recruiting class at that point especially at a school like Pitt. It is not like recruits are beating the door down to get here. The bigger error Stallings made that class was not bringing in a grad transfer PG that could help the team right away. That is a bigger error on Stallings end than rerecruiting the freshmen class.

In the end, I don't think Stallings will succeed here and if he quit or retired tomorrow I would probably cry tears of joy. But the reality is that financially he is almost guaranteed to be back next season. I also think there is validity to the concern that other coaches would not look at his firing after only 2 seasons of a rebuild very well whether it was deserved or not. Unless you were willing to greatly overpay, an incoming coach is going to be very concerned about a coach getting fired after year 2 in a rebuild situation.

Considering the inexperience of this year’s roster and with their best player injured, no coach in college basketball, short of maybe John Calipari, would have been able to win this year. I wouldn’t think it needs said that Calipari isn’t coming here, but some Pitt fans also thought Sean Miller was a realistic option. It never was.

I believe he is saying that only the "ultimate cheater" could "maybe" have been able to win at Pitt this season given our circumstance.

Agree, I think the point is not so much about coaching up talent and is more related to getting impact Freshmen recruits who can come in and play a significant role right away.

What a shocker, the reading comprehension of some of you is juvenile....

It’s systematic with the problems of the country, no one wants to listen/read they all want to yell out their point, because it’s the most intelligent.

You guys weren’t going to give the article a chance after you read the title. You looked for things to get upset with that weren’t there.

Bull crap. Vuk is fair to Pitt and could be categorized as a Pitt fan. If you want print jagoffs look no further than DK and Reed.

Don’t ever disagree with the doom and gloom Stallings haters. You’ll be accused of being a Stallings ass kisser instead of just trying to talk sense.

It's said so often it's cliched. Why did Pederson think that by over-paying Dixon but not focusing on the downward trend of the program, the program would sustain itself? Pitt administration led by carpetbagger con-man Barnes worked its evil of Pitt basketball.

I think Stallings is doomed. He will not succeed. He hasn't won over Pitt fans except perhaps some athletic department bots who hang on sports boards. His coaching is weak, inconsistent.

Go ahead keep him another year. Miracles sometimes happen. But a mean-spirited old man is not the answer.

Perhaps because he recognized Dixon is a very good coach, and would be more likely to have success again at Pitt- than a clear down grade would be?
