I'm posting a ton because I'm pretty much fried from work so im letting productivity go this week... Plus my wife is out of the country for her work , so i have time to kill after getting the kid to sleep.

I think the argument was that the tourney isn't the be all end all. If winning a NC is the main metric of every school, most should just immediately disband their FB and BB programs, because if they get there, it will be because the stars aligned, and not likely sustainable. Other than a handful of teams in both sports. There are a finite number of ridiculously talented player, and the vast majority go to certain schools.

This. Pretty much everyone wants better post-season results, myself included. I, and others, just happen to think we shouldn't downplay our regular season success because of it. Although if we don't break out of our current funk Dixon won't have that to hang his hat on either.
