New US soccer thread

For you Chelsea fans, what are the chances of seeing Hazard back in uniform? His time in Spain has been a disappointment so far. I’d love to see him back in the EPL. Although, you make a play to get him back and you would have to lose some other star players.
Lord I hope not. But there’s been so much chatter and he wants to come back. I don’t think I he’s better than anyone they have and he will want to play. Can’t be good for the locker room.

And a transfer ban. Chelsea I believe was hit with this they year they got Pulisic on loan. Derby County were docked 6 points automatically at the beginning of this season and Sheffield Wednesday were docked 12 points automatically last season. Sheffield got relegated to League 1 last season and Derby is on their way to relegation to League 1 this season.

The FA started doing things a bit different this year from what I have read, I believe it's the FA. After the January transfer window they do their audits so a team who is sitting comfy mid table or a team at the top getting ready for auto promotion or the playoffs can find themselves in an unhappy spot.
Chelsea’s ban was similar to recent bans placed on Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid and had to do with minor violations at the youth level. But they handled the two window ban brilliantly by bringing in loaned academy players like Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, and Reece James. Additionally, they had Mateo Kovacic on loan already and just decided to buy him, and they bought Pulisic from Dortmund before the ban and then loaned him back to Dortmund until the end of the season. So during a transfer ban, they picked up Mount, James, Kovacic and Pulisic. That’s some pretty good business!

And how many of these matches was he played out of position or even RWB? Put CP10 at LW and let him bro g Chelsea’s attack back to life.

Chelsea need to figure out a plan for Werner. I'd loan him out if I were them. He is massively overrated.

Everyone in that group is. But here’s the thingy…is everyone on that list bad together at the same time their fault? Or is it the managers fault? Because there’s talent there and the production should be higher.

Our man Josh Sargent with the double for Norwich in their big win this afternoon. His first one was a goal of the year candidate.

Crowd was chanting USA! USA! USA! at the end of the game.

In USMNT transfer news, Arsenal has made an offer for Matt Turner and Leeds has made a big offer for Brenden Arronson. They are up to £20 million, which is around $27 million. Salzburg is so far not selling.

Dang Norwich outta the drop. They'll be safe for the weekend. Their biggest hurdle with be goal differential. It's only gonna get greater.

BTW, it was interesting that Sargent was playing as a right midfielder in a 4-4-2 today as opposed to his normal spot for Norwich, which is as a wide forward in a 4-3-3. He's also played some as the center forward in that 4-3-3, but I don't know if he's ever played as a pure midfielder for them like he did today.

What are Lukaku’s stats?

I think their expectation with this window is 9 points. High standards yes but it's completely achievable.

vs. El Salvador in Columbus
at Canada in Ontario
vs. Honduras in St. Paul

That's very manageable travel for the US.

Canada on the other hand has this

at Honduras in San Pedro Sula
vs. US in Ontario
at El Salvador

So the wrinkle is no Alphonso Davies for Canada this window. Add to that, lots of travel and 9 points should be the standard for the US. I'll take 7 or even 6 but would be bummed just like I was bummed at only getting 1 in Kingston.

Canada is dangerous because they do have some really good options in Cyle Larin, Tajon Buchanon and Jonathan David but that kind of travel while shoving 3 games into a tight window can be draining.

There is more than enough talent considering the midfield is intact and the Junkyard Dog is in phenomenal form.

The final 3 for the US shouldn't be too terrible for travel as they're in Mexico City, then to Orlando for Panama and then to San Jose.

All in all, I'll be bummed if they're not on top of the table come 02 February

What happened to Davies? That’s a blessing for the US.

Not having Davies is massive but there's no way the US beats Canada. For one, they are going field what amounts to a B team and hope for a draw and try to win their home games with rested players

He was diagnosed with what I read with, Myocarditis, a heart inflamation while with Bayern about a week ago. It's reported this was a result of having Covid. I think Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang had this as well and was sent home from the AFCON

That is your opinion

Best US group ever. Best Canadian group ever. One of worst Mexican groups ever.

That isn't what's going on at all. If American and Canadian players want to maximize (or come close to it) their earning potential the HAVE to go to Europe. Mexican players need to do no such thing. Good Mexican players can make just as much money playing at home than they can playing in Europe. Which is why so few of the best Mexican players over time have gone over to Europe to play.

What’s scary is if it snows in St. Paul, it levels the playing field because it hurts the more talented team more than cold weather can hurt a lesser team. Not saying it will happen, but the US might have $hit the bed here and made this window much more difficult.

Correct about Liga MX. However this still is one of the worst Mexican sides in some time.

I hated the St. Paul selection then and I hate it now. Should have done 2 in Ohio.

I suppose it could snow in Ohio too. But only a bit less likely than St Paul.

Yea it could but too much of a risk in St. Paul. They shouldn't be messing around just to give the MN folks a home game. We need to qualify and cant take the chance of playing in a blizzard.

Columbus forecast for Thursday: high 32°, low 24°, chance of snow showers at night

Hamilton forecast for Sunday: high 23°, flurries or snow showers possible

St. Paul forecast for next Wednesday: high 22°, low 3°, winds 10-15 mph

Tickets still available in Columbus. Lots of tickets still available in St. Paul.

Such a moronic decision.

But hey, at least it doesn't look like any of the three places is going to have a snow storm on game day.

The United States Soccer Federation is full of complete buffoons. Look I don't know where they should have scheduled these 2 home qualifiers but I know 1 should not be in arctic temperatures. Winds of 10-15 with a low of 3. That's easily going to be a sub zero wind chill. None of these players even remotely play in conditions like this...and I'm talking about the US. Muscles aren't as loose when it's bone chilling cold. I just hope the lads come out of St. Paul with 3 and no injuries.

Was wanting these games played in the Eastern and/or Central time zone a reason the US and Canada did this? Seems like having these games in Vancouver, Seattle and Portland would make the most sense.
